Dr Rosemary Howell & Niki Nojoumian

What is alternative dispute resolution and how might law students get a feel for the discipline before entering legal practice? In this episode, we chat with Dr Rosemary Howell and Niki Nojoumian about ADR, finding your place at law school, and UNSW Law Society's skills competitions. Dr Howell teaches postgraduate Principled Negotiation at UNSW. She is a nationally accredited mediator and has appeared in the International Who's Who of Mediation since 2013. Her company Strategic Action also provides consulting services on planning, facilitation and training to State and Federal entities around the globe. Niki is the UNSW Law Society’s skills Vice President. Her portfolio facilitates competitions that provide students with the opportunity to develop and refine legal skills in a practical setting outside of a classroom. To achieve this, the skills portfolio runs internal and external competitions in four key areas: Negotiations, Client Interviewing, Witness Examination and Mediation.
