In the dead of night as people sleep that is when the spirits creep as the bell tolls three dark things take power We like to call it the supernatural Hey, welcome to the supernatural hour. This is your host Raven. This is Chad. This is Drake and I'm Emmet And for the business the business is brought to you by Castle Photo art go to Castle for all your photo needs What have we got going we have an investigation coming up at Rock Canyon Trail, head park on September 16th?

Yeah, this will be fun Yeah, we haven't been there since 2020 as a paranormal group for a public investigation We did that when as our first investigation during COVID-ish and it was a wide open investigation It was it was pretty fun But we haven't been there as a public investigation since then we did have an insider's event there a few years back that was very active and very good And so is the one oh, that's right. Okay, okay Rock Canyon so was the public one that we did both of them were very active So we're looking forward to getting back there. It's been a few years since we've been there It'll be fun go out to advanced paranormal calm events or event right to get tickets for that And they also have a little link and videos to the Indian Hills Horror haunt the free hunt But that won't be until October. Yeah, so buckle up folks It's gonna get busy here and you know what's gonna happen before you know it to the summer has flown by and the fall Is just gonna fly by to oh, yeah, no, it'll be snow on the ground shut up There's still there's still snow on the ground and parts of it still well, I can still see some big snow fields I bet you though there will be snow on Tim until it actually snows again because we had a boatload of snow last year.

Yeah, okay That's it for the business. There are some library events and some other things that are coming up. Just check the website They'll be there so residential's we haven't had any for a while and this is gonna kind of we'll come back to this a little bit when we talk about the junk drawer, but we do have one scheduled and Actually got a call yesterday kind of asking some questions and they will schedule pretty soon And then that one that we keep having issues scheduling is still bouncing around I might give up on it, but we have one scheduled we can talk about it soon and hopefully this other one they'll come back You get that one scheduled, so that's where we are on residential. Okay.

I mean the delay is up to them. I hope they're okay Absolutely. So our main topic today. I found fascinating.

I actually bought a book. So and the book is called The book is called something like Corpse Wood Manor Murders in Georgia. It's by Amy Petchulam, I believe and it is fascinating, but we are gonna talk about Dr. Charles Scudder and Corpse Wood Manor.

I had never heard of this until you brought it up and Number one this is weird and fascinating and number two I mean, you know to me anyway, this wasn't that long ago No, and the interesting thing is we talked about this very briefly when we did a podcast a couple years ago on the Church of Satanism Dr. Charles Scudder was a member of the Church of Satan and I remember thinking you know, he's got a story of his own at some point. We're gonna do a podcast just on him Drake and you ever heard of of dr. Cutter?

Of Dr. Scudder know but of the manor. Yes. Okay, so basically, let's just give you kind of some some history So you know what we're talking about there's a man by the name of dr.

Charles Scudder and he had a cook slash housekeeper And they kind of think probably his homosexual lover and his name was Joseph Joey Odom And he was actually a housekeeper before wasn't he? Yeah, yeah The cook and the housekeeper and Scudder had just adopted into the Church of Satan ideology And if you remember the thing about the Church of Satan is it's it's very confusing They actually don't worship Satan although it sounds like it The Church of Satan just they just really celebrate the base worldly pleasures that most Abrahamic religions kind of say no to Just indiscriminate sex and drugs and alcohol and basically they just say eat drink and be married for tomorrow You die kind of an ideology so they don't actually worship Satan sounds like heavy metal rock and roll backstage after the show Dr. Scudder was actually a professor of pharmacology at Loyola University in Chicago And he decided at one point he kind of wanted to go off grid as it were I mean, they had electricity and stuff but I read that he was actually highly respected in his fields while he was well He was an academic yes, and the neighbor said that they were very hospitable and nice and and that That dr. Scudder was actually quite mild-mannered You know just do just a all-around nice guy so he and his partner Joey decided that they were gonna move to Georgia And they were not out at the time because you didn't come out as homosexual No, this is the it was in the 1970s 1970s, you kept that under wraps pretty well.

Yeah at the time it was not considered mainstream and they didn't really you know I don't want to point to a thing because what I was finding he also had to Edderall's sexual marriage, so he had four kids from the before he met Joey. Oh interesting I did read that he was married before Joey, but I didn't read that he had kids That's apparently is children grew up and left, you know the home that they grew up in and it was just him in the housekeeper And that's kind of what triggered the the move Yes, they moved and it's I'm corpse would manner is in kind of Northern, Georgia They built they moved there in 1976 and the manner was built in 1977 It was named after some trees in the area and the thing I find it was interesting as it said in several different places it was hand built they didn't hire anyone to build it they built it themselves from what I can tell and from what I Saw that was some pretty spectacular masonry and you know It was a substantial building in its time even the ruins are are quite elaborate. Yeah, no It's from what I can see it was very beautiful I mean even the ruins are kind of cool the way the land is kind of taking it back over One thing that kind of made me chuckle besides the manner that they built or sometimes I call it a castle They built a chicken house and this chicken house had three floors. Okay first first of all you got to understand Raven has chickens I have chickens, but we don't we didn't build a house with three floors for the chickens No, they just know but do you have them on the head every time you take an egg?

No, I don't because they're mean they try to pick me Okay, I have to steal their eggs with a skeleton hand not a real skeleton hand plastic from the dollar store Thank you very much I'm looking at a photo of the chicken house online as you're describing it and this this is a People could live in this. This is monumental. Yeah, it's big This is this is like a Taj Mahal of chicken houses here something okay, but wait for it wait for it Here we go. So the first floor was for the chickens, right?

Which you it's called the chicken house so that makes sense and some food storage, okay? This is where we degrade a little bit the second floor is for canned goods and their pornography collection because I would pair those up together in the same I would yeah, they obviously canned goods and pornography go together. Yeah, and I think I think pornography Sometimes I'm at the grocery store and I'm looking for a certain item is never where I would put it You know some weird place that reminded me this can't get it's pornography You got to think of 1970s pornography though It was not on flash drives and bold up on internet and those kinds of things you had to have everything under the counter at 7-eleven The third floor was the pink room or the pleasure chamber That's where I would have put the pornography But you know that's just me and this is kind of the room that they would just do their thing in they were known He was actually known dr. Scudder for doing some experiments at Loyola with LSD And when he left he actually took two human skulls from the university and about 12,000 doses of LSD Did he know Timothy Larry?

I was just gonna go there. Yeah, I don't know Timothy Larry also did a lot of experimentation in the 70s 60s and 70s with LSD and so did Cary Grant really Cary Grant was into LSD Let's see here, but that's where they would they would do a lot of drinking in the pink room They would do drugs. They would have just a lot of sex The word that I found on the internet was esoteric paraphernalia Okay, so just kind of if it felt good They didn't have a pleasure room in the main house. I can see the chickens beating on the ceiling.

They're going knocking off up there No, they're too far down. They had the buffer room with the pornography. No, that's right the cans and the pornography I don't know I'm sure that they did stuff in the house too But this pink room was specifically set aside probably for bigger parties and I will never investigate this place with an Ultra violet flashlight I'm going in with a hazmat suit. Just won't get there, but just gonna go in there doesn't sound like everything Okay, well, am I considering I'm kind of looking at photos and stuff.

There's not that much left of it. Thank God Yeah, I think most of it's gone. The way they decorated this place. They said it was kind of decorated Gothic There's a lot of skulls a lot of gargoyles, but Scudder himself said of the house And he said this is a quote more like a mausoleum a tomb requiring care cleaning and endlessly costly repair endless costly repairs But they had like a stained glass Of I can't remember his name Baphmit.

It's like a big go ahead in the pentagram a big symbol in the church of Satan A lot of gargoyles a lot of skulls a lot of you know just that kind of Well, he's the one that wanted to get off the grid and you know didn't hire a licensed contractor So the endless repairs are there on him right? So you know anybody who lives in a mansion or castle as they call it You know you want some you want it to be guarded? So they had they had two bull mastiffs once name was Beelzebub and the other was Arsoneth Do you know who Arsoneth is we all know who Beelzebub is it sounds demonic so Arsoneth So it builds above obviously after a demon but Arsoneth is actually a character from an hv Lovecraft So you know he's got these huge bull mastiffs and there's a couple pictures on the internet They're enormous, but Scudder allegedly and the way they've put it on the internet when you do the research It says Scudder allegedly created a demon that you can't create a demon I think you just summoned a demon but apparently he summoned this demon to help the dogs protect the manor They would have guests come over and they would go to the pink room and his guests were just encouraged to indulge in every drug In the sex women, I mean, that's just the whole point or at least one of the major points of the church of Satan is just If you want to and it feels good do it So they just had a lot of partying going on there big enablers of that Absolutely providing the drugs the opportunity and the venue and the pizza rolls And those probably came from the second floor that you can run And if they had a microwave in the pink room got my story You know we hear a lot of weird stuff in you know because of what we do But every once in a while something comes along and just blows you away and this is one of those things Right, yeah, the more you get into it the more you're going what the hell? I mean everyone does their own thing everyone's different everyone's got their likes and dislikes But sometimes you're across these that are just so off of maybe the norm.

That's just I don't know How can how can a person even think like that? You know, that's just too weird so you know, they would have people over You know, there's people from the church acquaintances and at some point two fellows came over Their names were Avery Brock he was 17 and his roommate Tony West who was 30 and they somehow you know met up with Scudder and Odom And they came over to the house, you know to to indulge and it's you read two different things Some people said that Brock and Scudder had a sexual relationship Others say that he just befriended them and he invited them over and the other college age kids And who doesn't want to just have drugs and groom for a sexual relationship probably right and if not to groom just You know, if you're 17 year old kid, you go to some guy's house He's like you want drugs here you go. You want sex here you go. Do whatever you want, you know There's no parent going you need to go to bed and that's bad for you So you know, they're their partying Well, the problem is Brock and West thought that these men were very wealthy and of course they had means because they were able to build this mansion And it was quite impressive looking and they had their separate chicken house and they had you know, drugs and all this paraphernalia And so these guys are thinking these guys are rich guys are loaded and we're gonna we're just gonna go rob them We're gonna get some of the riches and and be done because 17 and 18 year old guys aren't all that right sometimes Well, I'm 30, okay 30 or 30 sometimes either 30 year old guys in around the 17 year old guys aren't always that right So you know they went over one night, you know to party So this was December 12th 1982 and they decided to go hang out and that particular night They drank some homemade wine and they decided that it would be really cool to huff varnish and some other chemicals that were kind of sitting around Why not?

I mean, you know, what could go wrong? Yeah, just a little high on some varnish because that sounds like a good time to me There's two other people that some people say they were involved They brought two friends with them Joey Wells and Teresa Hudgens and some people say that Teresa was involved Some people say that she was actually held captive So we don't know where those two sit but apparently there was four of them But Brock and West the 17 and 30 year old they're kind of the main you're creeping up on the murders here, right? We are we are murders. There are murders So just blow your way.

It's an outstanding household at a haunted house So Brock shot Odom and the dogs which I think is that why kill the dogs because Or do you think how would someone not hear gunshots? I think they were kind of out in the booties. I know that there's a whole lot of other stuff going on out there They built this purposely away from everything So Odom and the dogs are shot and the two boys The demon helping the dogs. I know we will come back to the demon But he didn't do much help, right?

So they the two kids got to scatter. They left him alive You know because they're saying where's the wealth where's the riches? We want your money We want you know the jewels whatever that you've got and he's like dudes. I don't have that much I mean, you know everything I had I put into building home and plotted into the property and then what I've got left is just enough to The party to eat and buy some drugs when they realize this they're kind of like Well, I think they just I think their first intention wasn't all we're gonna go kill everybody I think it was just scare them and get money and leave But then when Odom and the dogs were shot and then they find out that there's no money They're like we just got to make a deal of this And so they actually shot sked her five times in the head with a shotgun and took just the few little valuables kick around You know only five times in the head so yeah So, you know just they just took stuff around the house that they could probably go pawn and they fled Yeah, they left they ran to there and then they went to Mississippi They killed another man in a robbery gone wrong and I decided these guys weren't very good at this whole robbery thing because they kept messing it up I honestly don't think they intended to kill people.

They just weren't very good at robbing people really poor robbers Let's see Brock actually kind of felt guilty He returned to Georgia and turned himself in on the 20th of December and then I see the younger one or the older he was the younger one Okay, and then West went to Chattanooga, Tennessee and turned himself on the 25th of December Mary Christmas on a murderer But me and to me that says that we'd have you on their minds I mean, I'm not saying that they're saints, but you know most murderers just try to hide most murders don't turn themselves in There might have been some remorse there. Mm-hmm. So West was sentenced to death or Brock was sentenced to death I'm sorry and West was given three consecutive life terms We're turning himself in. Mm-hmm.

Yep, but there's a couple interesting things I mean that's a basic story and the basic story is pretty basic right but kind of some of the things afterwards are what was very very interesting So one of Apparently either West or Brock it doesn't say which one recounted the story of the night it happened when they after they had killed Odom they bound and gagged scut it in his pink room and Scutter said I asked for this before he was shot And it's interesting because he had had a lot of commissioned artwork in the home And one of the portraits that he had of himself done several months before this happened is a picture where he's gagged with bullets in his head Wow, and I mean just the fact that that is how he was killed is very interesting and it's like for one who does that? I'm not gonna commission the painting of myself gagged and shot in the head because that's creepy That's disturbing. I think it's something towards his state of mind. Oh absolutely I mean if I'm gonna do a fantastical commission of my own painting I'm gonna be you know sitting on a unicorn.

Yeah, it's gonna look like Frank for Zeta painted right Well, I was going for a stack of money I mean something's gonna come true. I'd rather be sitting on the stack of money than a New money's good you bet. I don't know if I get a unicorn I can make a lot of money with my unicorn But but gagged and shot in the head no thing. Yeah, that's that's a little creepy One of the things that they said, you know the victims were called double worshipers It is interest in the occult we've kind of talked about what the occult is But I think you know when you go around saying oh yeah I'm going to the church of Satan people's minds go right to devil worship Which is not and I'm not standing up to the church of Satan, but that's not the church of same is Yeah, there are other religious things that do worship Satan, but the church of Satan is not one of those per se No, it's one of those weird names.

It's like it's the church of Satan, but they don't worship We're yeah, they worship the anarchy and not following the rules that That's that standard religions Well, you know, I mean look at look at Christianity and like for instance, you know Jehovah's witnesses and neither one of them is going to say that the other religion is like theirs But they're both basically about you know Jesus and Jehovah and Christ and God and there's a lot of similarities You can do that with all of the Abrahamic religious religious Excluding Muslims and right and to my understanding and if you follow this tenant or know more about it than I do Please correct me But in the church of Satan they don't worship anybody there. I mean they're more atheist than anything It's a significant thing right and it's just you know do what you want So, you know what they were also openly gay and you know They felt that they could be because even though it wasn't mainstream at the time They were so far. I mean northern Georgia in the 19th I don't know what it's like now, but in the 1970s I'm sure it was pretty remote and probably fairly sparsely populated because of that they were pretty open about their relationship and you know the neighbors you're thinking in Georgia that's right in the heart of the Bible belt neighbors aren't digging too much on this and The area was referred to by locals as Devil worshipers Mountain They claimed that you would be cursed for life if you took bricks or anything from the property And so you might be thinking oh, you know those neighbors are just judgmental and they don't know they're talking about but there was some There's actually some truth to some of that some weird incidences, so looters would go and Because it was very sensational at the time so looters would go to take bricks and Candlesticks and you know things out of the home, which is why when you go there. There's not much left So one thing it the home was burned down by arsonist I believe so that decimated most of it But you know looters would still go and take things that were left People who took stuff would report accidents.

They would report injuries and then the people are like we're gonna take that back So they would go and take the property back So there was a man who took a piece from the home, you know more along the lines of one of the smaller gargoyles or something As soon as he brought it home She took out the trash and broke her leg and she said it's because of that object you brought in the house You have to take it out so he had to take it to his office There's a lot of go sightings People say that often you'll see a ragged man I know just as close or kind of in rags and he will speak to you briefly and then he'll disappear just right in front of your eyes You're talking to him. He's there one second go in the next. That's like Howard Hughes So that one's you know a very common sighting. There's a local man who kind of told a story He and his friend kind of visited the ruins in December, you know kind of the anniversary of what happened on a dare and They got there they said there was no other cars there But they found two men sitting in lawn chairs And so they got talking to these men and the men said oh, you know We visit the spot on the same day every year and they chatted for a while about how tragic it was And then the two men that were there on a dare, you know kind of wandered around a little bit and looked and they turned around and Those people were gone.

Just you know within a matter of seconds disappeared can see them anywhere No footprints and later they looked up pictures of dr. Scudder and Joey and they were like well That those are the people that we talked to and it had been several years later That's weird one of the things they say that the ruins are just getting harder and harder to find because you know the Local flora and fauna is taking over as they will do and you know breaking down some of the objects on that So I was looking on Google Maps and all that stuff the trail is there's next to nothing for the trail to get up there It's covered. There's trees overflowing it everything. Yeah, everything's covered with Ivy They say the property fence at all or just no There's like from photos that I was finding and stuff That was usually straight from Google the last photos were taken in December of 2022 and it's like the three things still left and they're about ready to fall over Wow, yeah, they say that someone put up a sign that just said CW and I think you kind of have to know where to go There's also here and there and I don't know if these are still there if they've you know if nature's taken over But there's like a falling down log that says go back that's been painted on it But they said if it's hard hard to find but they said if you search with ill intent You like to go take something and or do some sort of weird crap You won't be able to find it or people have said that we'll get in their cars and the cars will crash on the way there Or they will refuse to start So or like if you get there and you take something and you get in your car to drive away your car will refuse to start So there's some interesting creepy stuff.

You should never take anything from signing anywhere Yeah, just asking for trouble right? Scudder was cremated and the crematorium that did it had some issues later And I don't want to talk too much about that because that is going to be a whole nother podcaster's enough about that It's gonna be it's gonna be a topic all on its own. We'll do that sooner than later Okay, but the the crematorium where he was taken to to be cremated. That's the It's famous in and of itself.

Yeah, it didn't fare too well. Let's just say that It's interesting because when when these men were killed, you know, Brock and West didn't spend a lot of time cleaning them up and You know setting them up so that they wouldn't decay they killed them and they'd left, right? I think that's what I would do if I was in order to run a kill someone I would just kind of high tail it out of there And so by the time the police got there these bodies had been laying in their own blood for long enough That they had started to decompose and these bodies weren't in you know pristine condition Well, and this is out of town and there's not a lot of interaction with the town spokes and the people and The guys that did the murder know about the other two but the other two went to it was at Texas or Louisiana and committed that of the murder I mean, they're not gonna be saying a whole lot Mississippi, right? And I don't know the other two people if they were there, you know Or actually saying a whole lot to the authorities either so it might be sometime before Anything even is they start looking for things right?

So as we're doing this I think there's a little hole in my research and I didn't I didn't come up of who found them and who Told the authorities so if they were killed on December 12th and if the one fellow turned himself in on December 20th They're gonna lay there for at least eight days Now if that gal Teresa was held hostage and she escaped maybe she was able to tell them earlier earlier But we're just gonna go on that they lay there in their own blood for eight days So they're they're decomposing and so You know when they're found obviously there's police officers there and the one thing that I read said that the officers that were there were seasoned officers They'd seen worse decomposition than what they had seen here But they all reported that they had a really uneasy feeling when they were moving these bodies and you know when you're moving a murder Victim body that's partially decomposed. It's not exactly party time. You know, there's gonna be smells. There's gonna be horrible sites But these all these men said that there was just it was it went beyond just this is a horrific sight to see They said just even the atmosphere was very very uneasy unlike that they've ever experienced in any sort of similar situation We certainly understand, you know, that was absolutely they said that when the bodies were finally taken away to the mortuary They said it felt like a weight had been lifted and they're all standing there kind of looking at each other like whoa Did you feel what I feel and one officer kind of finally voiced it and he goes did it feel like something was watching you?

You know, did you feel like something was there watching us and all of them said yeah? Yeah, actually it was and all the officers present said there was a really oppressive feeling at the manner like they've never felt before They all mentioned that they felt like something evil was watching them and not the men who were not that the men who were killed were evil But more like a malevolent entity that was hanging out watching what was going on But followed the bodies when they left and a lot of people think that it might have been the demon that scutter Contured there for the dogs felt the dogs. Yeah, which would explain why later if it stayed at the mortuary why the mortuary and smish As far as odom's body some people believe it was buried on site Some people think it was cremated and sprinkled over the over the site which would explain, you know Some of the stuff that happens there, but no one's really sure what happened to odom interesting So that is the story of dr. Cutter and corpse would manner such a cheery little name for the house Well, it's actually named after the trees that were in the area But corpse corpse wood corpse.

I Never heard of a corpse. I have an either, but that's what the internet said so I have to be true I'm wondering if I'm wondering if the wood is just because of the woods and the corpses the creepy part Yeah, of course wood because I'm not aware of it must be a tree. It must be a Southern earion thing and it's over human down there those bodies for a week decaying. Oh, it must have just been putrid As bad, but well, that's true south.

Yeah, I mean, they're not gonna have freezing temperatures But it's probably better in December in the south than July July or August. I can't even imagine humidity and I do not get a while Get along well at all at all. He heard that story before but it makes me a little panicky Well, it's too bad It's in such a state of disrepair because that would be an interesting sight to visit one day properly I'm sure that if anybody has ever ghost hunted there, I can't even imagine the activity you would get It would probably be insane. I would think that it would be through the roof Well, and there I don't know I always say oh I go go somewhere anywhere, but this is one of those places that I'd be like I would have to think a time or two.

I think before I went to this one So I don't know maybe if we drove past I'm like, oh, there's a CW in a trail that's shot down there It probably would depend on how it felt. I wonder if anybody's interviewed his children his adult children I don't know. I never ran a crowd. I looked at a ton of different pages But then I found this book so I did a reading did a lot of reading in the book But I never heard I never heard or something about the kids that would be interesting You know that doctor in Southern California that was accused of the black dolly of murders His son has actually been quite vocal, you know about the whole thing and you know agrees Yeah, his dad was guilty and he makes no bones about it.

So And he just know he has no official evidence or proof, but he's got an awful lot of circumstantial Right. He's got a lot of weird memories growing up. Yeah. Yeah, I would think that kids even though they might not know I would think deep down and you would know that something was off there.

There's got to be some bad feels Or when it comes out, I could see you know when it comes out kids going. Oh, okay. Well, that makes a lot of sense I make a lot of things so much I'll take make a lot more sense So who knows? If anybody has been to course with manor or has seen it or passed by it we would love for you to Shoot us an email and kind of let us know your experiences because yeah check in.

Let us know Dot wisps dot contacts at gmail dot com. That one more time. I think I talked over you apps dot wisps Dot contact at gmail dot com One of the things before we kind of move on from this topic that I found interesting about this is sometimes we have done You know serial killers or murders and found one little Iota of paranormal You know instances to kind of tie it in but this one had a lot This one had a lot of you know ghost stories and curses and you know and stuff kind of sortly around it which I found very interesting Church of Satan. I mean, that's a pretty wide topic right there I don't get a lot of doors for the paranormal absolutely and if you're interested We did an episode specifically on the church of Satan several years ago Anton LaVey the church of Satan so if you want to go back and listen to that for a little bit of background on the church of Satan feel free A little weird we're recording this on Sunday.

I feel like I'm gonna be struggling for same Satan a hundred times And Anton LaVey is a very interesting character in his own. Yeah, didn't we do one on him too? Yeah, that's the same episode Or did we do two separate ones? I think it's the same episode you would think we would remember since we are the ones that recorded it Except for we've done like 230 or 220 of these now so that we can't remember everyone Some of them start melting and others as long as we don't do the same topic every third topic.

I think we're okay Next week we'll be doing Dr. Charles Scudder and of course we're back wait a minute Emmett do you have a segment for us today? Yeah first let me remind everybody to check out our shop at Advanced Paranormal We're on YouTube TikTok. We've got you know all of your paranormal needs t-shirts whatever you need, right?

Yes, we do absolutely I just ordered my uh hoodie and my new shirt this morning Starting to get chilly out there. I had to put a jacket on the story. Well, it also didn't help with the huge rainstorming I yesterday too. Yeah, oh, no, we were where were we yesterday?

We were down in Provo because it was my dad's birthday and We walked out of the restaurant. I was like, oh it rained. You know, that's that's nice. I like rain And then as we were driving north closer and closer to home.

I thought holy cow there was parts of trees in the road and There must have been some some some pretty hefty winds up here Oh, yeah, if you're caught in it your wipers would do no good at all. Wow Nope, so I could tell there was a lot of random a lot of wind I never actually saw or heard it because I was Eating delicious pizza. That'll distract you actually well I can't eat a lot of pizza because it makes me sick but It's a delicious salad which I brought half of it home and got up this morning to eat the other half of my delicious salad and my daughter Had eaten the other half of my delicious salad That happens. Yep.

I have to start writing my name on it like she does do not eat this or you will die Oh, that'll just tell her the good stuff is she'll go straight forward anyway, okay. Sorry We have we have gone off in the weeds just a couple of odds and ends this week Last time I talked about that three-dimensional that xls component of the connect camera that I found already exists on one of my older connect SLS cameras and that version is connect 2.0 So look at your software and if you have connect 2.0 the full suite installed you probably have that three-dimensional Option for your sls turning it into an xls and the display looks you know It's virtually what they've been showing on the shows lately is the room is depicted in three dimensions But you know the spirits are still just stick figures Okay, and then and if it you know maps in a person it's still just stick figure but everything in the room is mapped in three dimensions So it's kind of cool kind of different. I don't know that it's more sensitive That's cool. The two-dimensional view and then the other this is really important news Uh, I just ordered a new set of cat balls because you know the batteries and these they're they're non-replaceable But you know the last a year or two because you don't using that often But the new version the on and off button is recessed So you won't accidentally turn it on when you put it in your case and open it up Yeah, and the batteries did and it's no good So because I did that when we went to p.

O. Chai opened up my kitten the cat ball was just to go on off and I thought there I go. Yeah, that's how long has that been going on? I mean it was a long time So yeah, the new version is called the new ball flash toy And that's the one with the recessed button I'm gonna start calling it flash toy because it's really weird calling cat balls You get a lot of weird looks when you call a cat ball Is there a one of them a cat balls?

No, no, no, I'm gonna pass next You really should have your cat neutered. Yeah, that's why you're holding the cat balls because they got neutered How that helps with paranormal but who's got my cat balls? Yeah, it's just you know that reminds me of a joke a long time ago What do you have when you have a mothball in one hand and a mothball in the other hand? What the biggest moth in the world Oh, that's terrible So I just want to put out an apology I am terrible with introductions and the last couple podcasts We have had we have missed Jess and even though doc was on the last one He's missed a couple and Jess has gotten a new job and so she has and it's it's an education and it's summertime So she's just been up to her eyeballs trying to get ready for that and doc is a doc and sometimes his Availability changes and he still has small children at home too And tonight Jess actually already had a commitment and doc has a sick child and is not feeling very well himself So we will get Jess back on she hasn't quit and doc is just under the weather.

So hopefully they'll be here I don't want the interesting people can't make it nor no, then you're stuck with us morning folks And great makes it interesting and we got a couple of new patrons And we're still waiting for a name to use on one the other name is Eric and Eric has been to a number of our investigations In the past he was a Fort Douglas and he was I think it was a petit neat also I'm sure he was and I think I could be wrong. I know he said petit neat last thing But Fort Douglas I think they came to Wheeler farm might have been a Fort or might been a stage coach And I think they came at the stage coaching so he's been a regular So we're really excited to have Eric and we're really excited to have the other new person But they haven't given us their Approval to either use their name or their handle yet. So but you know who you are. We appreciate you.

Thank you So we appreciate that that really your your support really helps us do things We we just barely had to get a new zoom license so that we don't have to break these up into it Can I tell the story? Yeah, you get to tell the story. So we figure we record the podcast twice a month Uh-huh because we put one out every other week every two weeks and so it's like I don't want to pay $15 Because tell them about what the wait was at zoom originally? I'm telling the story Um, so you know like it's just not worth paying $15 a month if we're only gonna record twice And so with that we'll just do it and so when we first started it was 2020 When we first started the zooming in and you know zoom is like everything's free Yeah, because before that we all showed up here.

Yeah, and so and so then then you know the covid thing kind of died down and zoom is like I'm not gonna be so free anymore. We're gonna go back to our original stuff And so you know it was like you could get on if there was less than so many people you could do like 40 minutes for free And so you we'd get to that 39 minute mark and it's okay guys log off We're gonna jump back in so we can finish and so everyone would log off and it would just make you wait out Whatever time you had left in your 40 minutes. So if you stopped at 39 minutes in 50 seconds You could wait 10 seconds and then you can jump back on not a big deal, right? So then you log off and second you gotta wait two minutes.

Okay, so wait two minutes But then it got to where we had to wait like 10 minutes. Yeah less less podcast We had to we actually did both our regular podcast and we did our insider's podcast and we had to wait 10 minutes twice So we spent 20 minutes. It's like 20 minutes is like two thirds of our inside the podcast and then we forget what we're talking about And then we come back and yeah, so insiders. Thank you We finally sprung and we're paying for zoom now so that we can just do this and it's a little annoying because it doesn't give us potty breaks But yeah, yeah, and like You know I go You didn't see it but you bounced up and down in the seat.

That's okay. We're making a better product anyway So Unless frustration on our part. So thank you very much That's the kind of things that your patron age does helps us present to you a better product and we really appreciate we've updated equipment ssl certificates The monthly web hosting all of those kinds of things so we are we are extremely grateful of your patron age and your help. Thanks everybody Thank you.

Thank you And As we're recording we haven't done our summers insiders event yet But by the time this is broadcast we will but that is always a really fun event so Be aware that you know you can become a patron and with that there's a lot of benefits that you get as we talked about the insiders podcasts And you also get access to our summer event and our next podcast that we record We will talk about the shindig and what actually happened. Yeah, but even though when you listen to this it will be after I can guarantee you the food is fantastic It's always a great time. Yeah, it's always fun. Well, M&R do you beat me to it?

Okay, so I can I can always plug that So okay, are the you to talk If any of the listeners out there want to become a patron it's patreon.com for slash super natural hour We have multiple tears you go out there some of the tears you can get some of our swag Yeah, it's fun. And you know you get to come to the insiders for free with some guests Which a lot of times is simply your annual cost of your patrons Yeah, we were talking about that just a few minutes ago on if you are an insider podcast and you're here locally in Utah for the price of a Two tickets to a paranormal event You get a paranormal event and suffer and that would be five dollars a month on the on the digital insider and you know that breaks down pay actually just about the it's actually Less than what two tickets would cost two tickets would cost so it's worth it And you get bonus podcasts. Yep. Some people are like is that really benefit I think listen to yourself the last 10 minutes you're boring get on with it.

All right. All right We'll get on with it. So earlier in the podcast we talked about residential and how they're kind of slow and the last four or five podcasts You're like don't need a residential anymore and we discussed this often You've this isn't the first time you've heard us say this but in the summertime people are outside They're camping they're doing sports They're going to the beach and you're just not in your house as often and so you just don't notice some of these little things that that kick around And so it's usually when it starts to get cold when the kids go back to school you're spending more time in your house you go Oh, yeah, I forgot that my door slams shut, you know five times in a row your light turns on and off Without any explanation. So as I was kind of looking around on the internet to see what interesting things we could put in the jump drawer This was something that was published in the New York Times.

That's by Molly Fitzpatrick And it was originally published in May of 2020 And what she did was she interviewed people or talked to people who you know We're suddenly because of the pandemic and the lockdowns You know, we're suddenly spending a lot more time in their homes than they normally did because they weren't going to work And these people started noticing things that they'd never noticed before so there's several stories. So we'll just kind of They're short. So we'll just start on through these um, so there was a man and his partner who lived in Los Angeles And You know the word comes out that hey, you know, you got to stay home. You can't go to work You can't you know, but the story you can't go to places and their first few days, you know, not a big deal But then they said one night the door knob began to rattle vigorously.

That's the word they used vigorously They said it was all by itself. They said it was so loud you could hear it across the apartment, but there was nobody there um And then you know a few weeks later One of the gentlemen was in bed when a nearby window shade began shaking against the window frame They said it was so intense that even the fact the window was closed And adjacent window shade remained perfectly still cats were all accounted for so it wasn't them There was no bug or bird or any other small creature that had gotten stuck in there And the gentleman thought it must be an earthquake But then you know at the same time it's like this window shade is rattling and that one's holding perfectly still And he said I very seriously hid myself under the comforter like you see in horror movies because it freaked me out Um, so neither he or his partner noticed any unexplain activity before this But after they started you know having to be locked down they distinctly made out footsteps over their head but no one lives above them and um You know the one gentleman says i'm a rational person. Uh, he's 26. He works in it or he was 26 at the time works in it He says I try to think what are the region reasonable things that this could be but he had no answers and it's kind of like what does it that Sherlock calm says when you take away The unexplained or when you take away all the possible all the possibles then it's the impossible that happened Um, and so when he couldn't explain what was happening he thought, you know, maybe it's maybe it's ghosts Um, so for this story, we're gonna go from Los Angeles clear across the country to New York.

There's a lady She's 42 she and her husband and daughter went to a cottage in western, Massachusetts They rented it on an Airbnb and they thought you know, we're just gonna go lockdown in this cottage for a while Can't go anywhere. We may as well go somewhere fun. The husband woke up about three in the morning He was thirsty so we got up to get a glass of water He says he walked into the kitchen and there was a man in his 50s. I'm Caucasian He was wearing kind of World War II era military uniform that looked worn, you know, it wasn't brand new and a hat and he was sitting at the table and The husband said For just a second it seemed normal and then he's like wait a minute wait a minute Wait a minute.

There shouldn't be a man in my rented Airbnb at three o'clock in the morning a World War II clothes You know one of those things where you're like wait, that's not so small to wake up there Right. Well, I mean if you'd been at home it might have struck you instantly, but you know, you're thinking about hotel or you know The thing's like wait a minute. No, you know, no one else is supposed to be here but me and my family And when he turns to look at the man again, the man was gone Of course, let's see here Just there's another story, but there's a man named john tenny And he is a self-proclaimed paranormal researcher and the former host of the tv show ghost talkers I don't know if you guys have seen that one I never even heard of it I don't think I've heard of it either but he estimates that he receives two to five reports a week of haunted houses in 2019 And he says it's been more like five to ten a week and I didn't see where he was But I have noticed other than summertime Our investigations kind of flux will get a whole bunch and then they kind of calm down and then we'll get a whole bunch and then it kind of calms down It seems like the busy season is actually after the holidays and before like a memorial day Late winter and early spring Another interesting thing with the investigations a lot of times they cluster Will have a lot of them in the same general city or things You know, we're here in utah along the wasatch front And it's a lot of times will be in south utah county for several and then we'll be up in taylor'sville for Three or four and then we'll be in salt lake and it's you know, it seems if it was a random distribution You know, you'd just kind of be around but they do seem to cluster for us. Don't they?

Yeah, you know, I've never gotten one that's like oh, oh, no, Provo now salt like I mean it seems like it's not like west Jordan Taylor's bill, which if you're not aware of salt lake county those are all just cities right close to each other Yeah, the greater salt lake metro area. Yeah, but they'll all just be you know, it's funny because sometimes we'll have two in a row say in saniquin Which is way south in utah county and then I'll get another call and they'll say saniquin will be like of course it's in saniquin We've already been there three times this month. Okay. Yeah, um, so there's a another lady She believes she's been sent Vince mmm.

Let's try that again. There's a woman who believes she's been haunted since college And she calls her ghost Matthew. She's a Nashville and he normally makes his presence to her by the sounds of running up and down the staircases at night And she says these aren't like house settling noises. You're cat walking around It's very clearly to get their attention and around the time that she and her husband began to self isolate in 2020 Her husband started to use the guest bathroom.

She was a home health nurse And so she was so busy and just exhausted and so he's like I'm gonna use the guest bathroom so that I don't wake her up when she's sleeping And he found out that Matthew who prefers the wife didn't like these changes He didn't like seeing things shaken up and so when the husband would use the guest bathroom The husband would be blasted with cold water, but it wasn't just a plumbing issue because every time that happened The hot water nozzle had been turned off. I think that that Matthew did that because he didn't like the shake up in the In the covid pandemic routine That's usually what sets them off to is something changes or it's renovations something they don't like Yep So Just a couple more there's a gal she's 24 and she and her boyfriend Were kind of writing out the pandemic in Florence, Italy She was originally from Charlotte, North Carolina She kind of always thought that her house might be haunted, you know, especially in the bathroom But never really sure just kind of a feeling she said that there's just kind of a sense that someone was watching her She said she'd find towels kind of unexpectedly on the floor and here door slamming, but nothing that ever That happens to us, but we have a molly and we do But nothing really out of the ordinary well She says a few weeks into quarantine she woke up to find something on her nightstand that didn't belong there She'd done a lot of photography and it's a lens that she had bought when she lived in the United States But she lost when she moved and she'd given up on her finding it But there it was just sitting on her nightstand and she said since then other objects just little ones like keys A lens and just a few other things have just started to show back up And she says that the reappearance of her camera lens kind of struck her as more mischievous or playful And she kind of took it as a suggestion To kind of get back into photography because I guess she kind of left it off So even though she just kind of had suspicions that she had a ghost once she started spending more time on her house because she couldn't go anywhere The activity kind of kicked up But she was like she was interpreting it as signs at that point Yeah, well like the lady almost as if the ghost is like, okay, wow, finally you're home for like the time I can actually communicate with you I don't know last one Uh, there is a lady I'm gonna take that back. There's a man who lives in the Queens area with his girlfriend And they were you know suddenly stuck at home in lockdown And he saw a ghost in the bathroom in the middle of the night She was wearing green scrubs standing about an arm length away from him And she was kind of glowy kind of the quintessential glowy ghost in the bathroom And he turned the light on you know to kind of get a better look and she disappeared And you know they're in this apartment and as you know sometimes blankets can get a little small And you end up playing tug-of-war with the blankets if it gets cold The boyfriend kind of woke up, you know in the middle of the night kind of a sensation of you know So you fall asleep your spouse comes home from work notices that the blankets not on you And so they you know just the blanket on you so that you're covered up all they go get ready for bed, right? So he kind of had that sensation But she was home And nobody was in the apartment and he's like who did that?

And he got up looked around because he's thinking if the robber's gonna break into the house They're not gonna make sure I'm comfy comfy and warm in the middle of the night And so he figures it was a ghost Wow So if we go back to Mr. Tinney the the host of the paranormal show He kind of sums up all of this with you know one Could argue out this is just what he says one could argue that the ghost pattering around in your kitchen is not only there But she's always been there Maybe your what's changed And you know some of that just goes back to if you're out of the house all the time You don't notice these little things but when you're in your house a lot is when you're gonna start noticing these Your perception something has changed that makes you more sensitive or perceptive That you're now observing something that may have always been there Right, so that's why we say you know our theory is in the summer when our residents are a lot lower It's because people are just spitting on time outdoors I mean I know in the summer I will get a book and I will go outside and read because it's nice and pleasant I know that winter's coming and I won't be able to do that I already will stay spooky my home to friends.
