השיעור קבלה עוסק בלימוד עמוק ומורכב מתוך מקורות חכמים, בעיקר בתורת רבי שמעון הדרוש על הדינמיקה הרוחנית בין חיים למתים, ובין האדם ל’קדוש ברוך הוא’. הדגש המרכזי הוא על ההבחנה בין המתים – שהם בעלי אהבה עצמית ואגו – לבין החיים, שהם הצדיקים הדבקים באמת ובקדושה. המתים מכונים כך משום שהם מנותקים מהאלוקות, וכן מי שממדם את האלוקים בצורה גשמית ודומה – קליפה קשה מאוד שמובילה לירידה לתודעה של גיהנום. הייתה התייחסות למידת הרחמים כממד שבו מתגלה הקדוש ברוך הוא, והצורך להתרחק מלימוד תורה מתוך אהבה עצמית
