Dramatic cooling in Northeast, drenching storms in South

from Weather Insider

A major spell of heat arrived in the Northeast this weekend, bringing the season's highest temperatures for many and even setting daily records for some. Temperatures have already surged above 90 degrees Fahrenheit in some locations, with AccuWeather RealFeel® Temperatures exceeding 100 in the toastiest spots on Saturday and the heat is not expected to let up in some locations in the Northeast.AccuWeather forecasters say that while locations in the Appalachians and Ohio Valley will have a sharp cooldown on Sunday as a front slides through, a bulge in the jet stream will continue to act as a roadblock in the atmosphere, keeping hot weather in place closer to the East Coast.AccuWeather's Bernie Rayno (@AccuRayno) and Kristina Shalhoup (@ShalhoupWX) have the details on that plus storms for the west on today's "Weather Insider" Podcast! Remember to stay up-to-date on these conditions with the AccuWeather app. And if you want hyperlocal alerts down to your neighborhood or street address, upgrade to Premium+ to unlock AccuWeather Alerts. Enhance your safety today with Premium+.
