It is faith in Jesus that has saved us.  We are commanded to add goodness, self-control, godliness, and brotherly kindness to this faith.  With a gentle word, we can turn away anger. With a good word, we can give encouragement, and with a kind word, we can calm a troubled heart. For this reason, we should always clothe ourselves with mercy, gentleness, and kindness.
