Drixxon Kyser: A Young Entrepreneurs Journey To Make a Real Social Impact

Drixxon Kyser is the creator of The Circulate App and cofounder of AMA-Zentech. Circulate is an aggregate of black-owned businesses that helps you find local businesses to support, which can be searched and sorted by category. Drixxon built the app and AMA-Zentech alongside his sister Olivia, currently a Rutgers University student. He’s only 19 years old but has already dealt with his fair share of challenges in the business world, including a controversial situation with Sean Combs, aka P Diddy. This Episode’s Heavy-hitter’s: The idea for circulate app was spawned through a conversation between Drixxon and his sister about the murder of George Floyd. They were discussing whether or not he would have been murdered had he been at a black-owned business, which then transitioned into a conversation about how difficult it is to find black businesses to begin with. At age 15 Drixxon and his family were homeless. This was a tough time when Drixxon wasn’t yet thinking about business, but it pressured him to want more from life. One challenge that Drixxon runs into as a young black entrepreneur is other black executives giving him “tough love” as a way of “prepping him for the white man upstairs.” The problem is, there are many times when the conversation ends there and they don’t continue to keep in touch. Drixxon recommends working with family as co-founders, but conditionally. You have to remove emotion from the working relationship, and when they do flare up, you need to decompress quickly and get back to it. When P Diddy invested in a company with the same name and mission as Drixxon, the founder contacted and tried to “little bro” him by offering him an advisory mentorship and the chance to meet Sean Combs. Drixxon decided to keep his mission moving and posted a video addressing the situation.
