Drop That Feeding Bottle!

One of the distinguishing hallmarks of maturity and adulthood is responsibility. Responsibility is not a title one wears as a toga, no. It is simply ability to respond to issues decisively, to be able to handle or take care of your business and show leadership. Responsibility, in this sense, is tied to one's knowledge and understanding of what needs to be done and how to do it. Hence, there's a limit or gradation to what to expect of toddlers. But you're not toddlers anymore, therefore, the onus is on you to take care of your business. It's unwise to be irresponsibly dependent on others for everything, even for the little things you should be able to do for yourself when you're not handicap. A wise man once said, "God gave us brains so we can give him rest." If this is true, why would you leave your thinking for God or others to do for you? Don't get it twisted. There's the place of seeking counsel, but once the cards are laid bare, you've got an independent choice to make! Dependence will limit your thought-pattern, and creativity. It could drive you into acute laziness, and increase your sense of entitlement. It may blind you from seeing and seizing great opportunities, thus, underdeveloping your potentials. To break free from these, you need to intentionally and consciously drop that feeding bottle. Break into mature circles where you can take up your cross. Freebies and welfare have a useful but temporary shelf-life, don't make it a permanent source.
