Drumkeerin Councillor says St Phelim's extension will help to meet demand for residential care

It’s hoped plans to the extend the capacity at St Phelim's Nursing Home, in Dromahair  will help to ease the pressure that many families are experiencing when it comes to finding places in nursing homes in the North Leitrim  An application has been submitted to the Local Authority in Leitrim seeking approval for a 35 bedroom extension for the facility. The application is seeking permission to construct an extension to the rear of the existing building consisting of 35 en-suite bedrooms and ancillary accommodation.  A decision is expected to be made on the application by mid- January. Local Councillor Padraig Fallon says if the application is successful it will extra jobs during its construction and bring on line more spaces in nursing homes which are badly needed.
