Drumshanbo Councillor calls for no casual trading licences to be issued during festival

from Ocean FM News Reports

Calls are being made on the Local Authority in Leitrim not to grant any occasional or one-off casual trading licences in Drumshanbo for business competing against existing rate paying businesses in the town during the weeks of the An Tostal and Joe Mooney Summer School Festivals.   The Calls have come from local Councillor Enda Mc Gloin, who says it is vital that Leitrim Council does everything possible to protect hard-pressed rate payers in the Leitrim town,   The Fine Gael Councillor claims the festivals present local businesses with an opportunity to make money.   Cllr McGloin says it’s unfair that mobile businesses such as fast food providers could set up shop for that week and as a result reduce the potential earning of established local businesses.
