She earned her undergraduate degree from Rice University before receiving her Doctor of Optometry degree from the University of California, Berkeley School of Optometry. She completed a residency at the State University of New York College of Optometry and a fellowship with the American Academy of Optometry.Passionate about patient education, Dr. Theriot launched her educational blog and published Alleviate Dry Eye to help individuals better understand and manage dry eye disease. She serves on the Public Awareness Committee of the Tear Film & Ocular Surface Society (TFOS), is the Dry Eye Disease columnist for Optometric Management, and lectures internationally on ocular surface disease, aesthetics, presbyopia, and dry eye.
