Dry to Life
from Daily Picture · host Stephanie Hawkins
Yesterday, on the Departures Board at a Lisbon bus terminal, passengers which included me, were told that the bus to Fatima would depart on time. It was not in its allotted bay 5 minutes before departure time so that was going to be very unlikely. Then the Board even said we were embarking which was impossible with no bus there! However, our confidence that it would arrive and that we would be going to Fatima was proven correct even though the facts in front of us seemed against that.. Similarly, we are to trust God and His Word whatever might seem to be indicating otherwise. Hebrews 11:1 tells us, "Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen". Our hope in God is based on conviction and belief in His promises, because we know Him. In this vein, my biologist friend in Fatima could look at a dry withered bush and declare excitedly that she could take some seeds, plant and water them to create a new bush with beautiful blue flowers. She knew the bush, its properties and what to expect. Let's spend time getting to know God and His promises and have substantial hope rather than hope based on wishful thinking.
