Previously, on Dark Sun… Our story began aboard an Argosy, where four slaves, Zev, Corsair, Rombus, and Kawkuss, were being transported from Urik toward Tyr. Before they could reach their destination, the Argosy was attacked by the Jura Dai. In the chaos, the slaves managed to free themselves and were offered a chance at freedom. The Jura Dai killed the captain and several guards before leaving the remaining survivors behind. The newly freed slaves searched the wreckage and discovered a map in Captain Weom’s belongings, pointing toward an oasis and the settlement of Kled. They gathered what weapons and the 2 gallons of water that they could and set out into the desert. Eventually, they discovered ancient ruins surrounded by strange cacti. What first appeared to be a silvery pool turned out to be cactus sap, and the party discovered that the fruit of another cactus could provide enough nourishment to survive a hot relaxing day. They decided to stay for another day, using what materials they had to begin crafting their own equipment, which included a bone needle (broke from a crit 20) and a bag. But as the sun came up, their rest was interrupted. From somewhere beyond the ruins came a strange cry: “Chiiii-chiiiiiii…” Two large, long-legged reptilian birds came running into the cactus field, apparently drawn by the smell of the fruit. And that's where we left them, On the early early morning of The 12th day of Scorch, 67 days past High Sun, K.A. 190.26 — two days after the Highsun Festival.
