This is David Ward from across the pond bringing you another tip on your Amazon echo This is a goodie I found just recently and I don't know if it's been in there for a while But it was totally unknown to me so I thought I would share it with y'all and it's connected with timers So historically back in time immorially set a timer somewhere.
It just goes off on that one device Well, let's see how we can defeat that with this feature. Let's go right to our demo though I'm gonna set a timer in my living room. I'm here in my office and Let's see what this new feature will do Alexa set a timer in the living room for 20 seconds called the washing machine is done The washing machine is done timer 20 seconds starting now. I'm living room.
Okay, so it's going off now typically in times past This would just go off on that one echo and by golly if you were in the basement or outside planting flowers or going to grass Or shed if you think you were baking some stones in the oven and the timer went off in the kitchen and you didn't hear it Oh burnt stones. Okay, so here we are So that's off in the distance, but you're the washing machine is that so you can hear it. It's a male voice of the lady That's kind of out there in the background now It will go off for about 30 seconds now with this setting But if I didn't hear it was somewhere else notice what will happen Just give it a minute it should have kick over here in a second Patience You know The washing machine is done timer on there we go You're the washing machine is done time Is ringing a lot to stop? Okay, so there is that new feature at least it's new to me Hopefully it's maybe maybe new to y'all too is the ability for if I don't respond within 30 seconds It will notify me on all my echoes that that that timer has gone off I think that'd be a tremendous safety feature for like food if you're cooking something in the oven and you're downstairs Or you stepped outside for a moment to get the mail or something Make sure that you get that notification and there's one other feature that I didn't turn on that's there too But I'll mention it now so first off you open up your a lady app on your Apple device or Android device You go to the button in the bottom right corner, which is the more button It's got like three little lines on it of different links you tap on that it will swoosh slide out a menu about halfway down to three Quarter's the pay three quarters the way down the page.
There's a settings button you pop on that you tap on that bad boy And that will slide open your settings menu, which is not huge over the years But you're gonna scroll down about to the second or third page and you're gonna find timers That's right timers. This is how it tipped me off to this new thing existed because I was like what kind of settings could be for timers You know you add divers you delete timers you set multiple timers you check the timers Why would there be a settings option so I went in there and that's where I found what we experienced today? You have two toggles down near the bottom one is the one we just experienced where you turn it on and if you don't respond immediately within a 32nd window it will go and broadcast in on all the echoes on your account So you make sure that hopefully if you're within range of one of those you you get notified Hey, dude the scones in the oven are about to get burnt Alternatively, there's another switch there at the bottom that you can toggle on so that you get a notification on your smart devices that have an A-Lady app installed So namely your telephone or something like that if you have the a lady app installed You're gonna get that notification on your telephone So even if you were standing outside or mowing the grass or maybe you run down to the convenience store to grab a soda Pop and some chips to go with the pizza that you have in the oven ding dang it'll pop up on your phone and that way you're not unaware So super cool was unaware it was there and hopefully that's a neat new feature y'all can find useful as well and hopefully is available In the United Kingdom and in Europe and other places as well.
