The issue of pricing and transparency in general insurance has never been under greater scrutiny. In September 2018, Citizens Advice submitted a Super Complaint to the Competition and Markets Authority, calling on them to identify remedies and recommendations to put an end to the penalty paid by loyal and disengaged consumers in 5 essential retail markets; one of which was household insurance. Since then, the CII Public Trust Index has laid the framework which identified rewarding loyalty as the biggest opportunity for the insurance profession to build public trust.
