Duncan Steel: What happens to space junk?

Last week, Francesca started the show talking about Starlink satellites and the long-term impact they have on our night sky and the inevitable space junk they create. Then a few days later, Elon Musk’s Space X announced they could lose up to 40 of the 49 launched satellites because of a geomagnetic storm. To talk us through the impact of all of this, space scientist Duncan Steel joined Francesca Rudkin.  Last week Duncan was a keynote speaker for the International Space University's virtual conference on space junk. LISTEN ABOVESee omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.
