from donpiruli
Canción interpretada por Ana Alcaide y los alumnos de 6º de Primaria del CEIP Gloria Fuertes, de Cobisa (Toledo) con ocasión de su participación en el proyecto Erasmus+ Invaders: how they shaped the Europe of today. Lyrics: Sephardic tradition Music: Sephardic tradition / Ana Alcaide Performed by: Ana Alcaide and pupils from 6th grade of Gloria Fuertes School. Over five centuries ago, the Sephardic people were forced to leave Spain. Throughout time they kept their culture, their medieval language (Ladino) and their wish to come back to Spain. They always had a wish to return to the motherland, but at the same time felt rejected by it, because of the eviction they had suffered. 'Durme durme' is a traditional sephardic lullaby that we can listen in sephardic communities of Sofia (Bulgaria) and Greece. There are similar versions of it. “Durme durme hermozo hijico, durme durme sin ansia y dolor. Cerra tus lindos ojicos, durme durme con savor. A la skola tu te irás. Y la Ley t’ambezarás”. Sleep, sleep my beautiful son Sleep, sleep without worries or pain Close your brilliant eyes Sleep, sleep with pleasure You will go to school And you’ll learn the Law
