E02: Your Life as an Act of Worship: Identity and Boundaries

When you received Jesus Christ, you became one of God’s children. From that moment on, your life became centered on a newfound identity pushing you to live in worship every day. However, with the enemy so insistent on stealing that identity away from you, how do you maintain a worshipful standard of life to the Lord? Even Christians struggle with a performance-driven identity, believing by mistake that their identity as Christians is based on how many people they baptized or invited to church. However, the Bible clearly articulates that your identity is in Christ. [16:39] Stepping Into the Christian Identity Jesus Christ is the son of God, and when you received Him, you also became one of God’s children. This means that the identity you need to live out is being His child, and when a child messes up or performs poorly, the father does not castigate him. Instead, he cleans up after the child’s mess and embraces him with loving arms anyway. [22:00] The Standard of Intentionally in Seeking God No longer from a desire to perform but from a yearning that a child has for a father, you are called to be intentional in seeking God in your everyday life. This means carving out time to pray and read the Bible, making sure to be present in church gatherings, and making intentional efforts every day to receive from God, so you could worship, and He would be glorified. [30:41] Establishing Your Boundaries In an intentional effort to live a life of worship, you need to establish boundaries. You cannot be in communion with God without separating yourself from the world. Keep watch of your relationships with the opposite sex or the types of content you consume every day.
