E032: Broke and Optimistic
from Throwing Light · host Brandy Walker
I thought it'd be good to share way too much right out the gate of season two. I mean, if you're a new listener, you gotta know what you're getting into, right? This episode is not overtly spiritual. It doesn't hit you over the head with abundance mindset. But then again, we owe $335,000 in student loan debt and I'm still smiling, so maybe it does. A correction and a couple of notes— I say with confidence that Dr. Phil asks "who's the doctor?" when confronted with someone who has over $150,000 in student loans. But that is not so! It's Dave Ramsey who says that. That was a strange Freudian slip. And in fact, I wasn't talking about Dr. Phil at all. But when you think about it, they're kind of the same person. When talking about our rent, I accidentally say we owe $6,000 a month. I do correct that one! And laugh hysterically in the process. Paying $2,000 a month in rent is quite steep, but it could be worse, right? Listed below is the bounty of resources I mention in this episode. So grateful for the feedback and encouragement I've received since releasing this episode last week. Truly grateful for the Throwing Light tribe. HONORABLE MENTIONS The World Domination Summit Danielle LaPorte's online home Brene Brown's online home The Spirituality of Money Episode My favorite money books include Worth It by Amanda Steinberg and You Are a Badass at Making Money by Jen Sincero Aja Dang and the video that moved me The Savvy Sagittarius's Instagram Death, Sex & Money and part one of their student loans series Thank you for listening! Throwing Light is for people who believe in the restoration and healing of the world and who aren't hung up on outdated dogma that seeks to dictate what that's supposed to look like. I'm interested in connecting with people who seek healing and restoration for themselves and the world and who are paying attention in micro and macro ways that they can see it happening in real time. I promise that engaging with this podcast will help you on your healing journey and move you toward your greater purpose.
