E041 Mentoring Student Teachers with Tonya McKenna

Wondering what to expect when student teaching?  Not sure what to consider when mentoring a student teacher?  Tonya McKenna is here to give you an overview of what each role looks like, how you can get the most out of your student teaching experience, and ideas for guiding student teachers throughout their time with you.   Tonya McKenna is in her 23rd year teaching elementary music. She currently teaches K-6 in North Texas and previously taught K-5 in Las Vegas, Nevada. She received a Bachelor's in Music Performance, Master's in Music Education, and Orff Schulwerk certification at the University of Nevada, Las Vegas. She has also completed a post level Orff Schulwerk class at SMU as well as World Music Level I. She is the current President of the North Texas Orff Chapter. She and her husband Mike have two wonderful children. Tonya loves being a soccer mom, yoga, reading, and cooking.
