He is currently the head of the youth programmes at Edinburgh based Inverleith Hockey Club, which is a committee position. He is also a co-coach of the ladies first team in the Scottish Premiership. At the same time Barton is an international standard coach with the Cyprus Men’s Hockey Team. All of this he has achieved before the age of 30, whilst also playing in his club’s men’s first eleven. In this episode we chat about coaching styles and principles, how to engage players within a positive team culture, as well as how to coach junior, senior and elite level players.
