E102 - The First Commandment and Modern Idols

God's first instruction to us in the Ten Commandments is "Thou shalt have no other gods before me".  Idols in the Bible may seem obvious to us, but modern idols are far more complex, and living a God-centered life is not just about professing Christian faith.  The world contains many distractions and temptations, and it can be difficult to know what matters in building a Catholic faith practice and how to avoid idolatry in modern life.   Materialism and faith can come into conflict in our lives, and our faith habits can be replaced by idols of the heart.  Fr Hightower joins Nicholas to talk about the Catholic understanding of worship and idolatry, the spiritual dangers of idolatrous behavior, and putting God first in everyday life.
