E117 - Dave versus A.I. - Putting the Humanity back into Podcast Editing I had the opportunity to be a guest on a podcast for Dads - it was great, awesome host, a great episode - truly grateful for the opportunity to share my Dad Story! Be a guest, it is a great way to add value to another show, to support a fellow podcaster and potentially grow your own show at the same time! When the episode released I noticed that the podcast was edited by a popular A.I. Editing tool that podcasters have fallen in love with - but I felt, when listening back to the interview that the humanity was removed in the edit - so I have a warning for you as a podcaster to use caution when using an A.I. Tool or an editor for your show - don't strip every last second of pauses, cadence and the natural "gallop" that happens when we talk. Here is a comparison of the interview as it went out and my edits to put the humanity back into the same clip. You judge for yourself what works for you, how do you feel when you hear the two clips. For me the first clip made me feel anxious, like a shot clock in basketball, there felt like an imaginary countdown clock clicking away and that I was trying to get all my words in before a cutoff point...
