Desiree was pregnant with her son. She flew to Chicago twice for different events. But neither trip included staying with her mom or going to see her.Her mom was deeply hurt.She called. Desiree could hear it in her voice - the hurt that her daughter had been in town twice without coming to see her.Desiree said "Let me come see you."Her mom brushed it off. Said she wasn't feeling well. Said it was okay.And Desiree KNEW. She knew in that moment God was telling her: "Go see her. Don't take the excuse. She needs to see you. GO ANYWAY."But she didn't.She let her mom brush her off. She accepted the excuse. She told herself "I'll come another time. She said she's not feeling well, so I'll give her space."October 31, 2023. Her mom passed away.And the next time Desiree saw her after that phone call? She was in the hospital. On her death bed. And she literally could not speak.That's what delayed obedience cost Desiree. She didn't get to see her mom healthy one last time. She didn't get to reconcile the hurt. She didn't get to say whatever words needed to be said. The last conversation they had was that phone call.
