E12: Nurturing Your Harvest; Protecting Your Seed

from Kingdom Flow · host Kyle Jones & Ian Sperry

God calls us to be a steward of His grand creation. That means planting seeds for the future — but our duty as stewards doesn’t stop there. Seeds need nurturing; they need our love, care, and faith to grow into something grand that adds to His greater glory. In this episode of Kingdom Flow, we discuss what it means to plant a seed. What is a seed? What threatens our seed? How do we defend our seed from the Enemy — and sometimes protect our seed from ourselves? We'll answer these questions to help the Kingdom Flow through you and bring Heaven into the world today. Here are some power takeaways from today’s conversation: Learn what it means to be a goal-oriented person Understand what it means for something to be your seed Create a lasting legacy for God’s greater glory Identify what things in your life are your seeds Episode Highlights: [06:07] Lessons from Running Being a goal-oriented person needs you to be more than completing tasks. It's about finding what your capabilities are and looking for a better way to do things. What can you learn? You can begin by aiming for just completion, but there's always something more to do. [16:59] Don’t Give Up On Your Seed Whatever you sow, you will reap. If you put in the effort to do something, don't give up on it. Consider Galatians 6:9 — "Let us not be weary in doing well, for in due season we shall reap if we faint not." Whatever you put in, whether it's a financial, physical, social, or spiritual investment, it will return; this is a principle of God's Word. Don't let the Enemy take it, and be sure to care for it yourself. [35:54] Leave a Legacy When you plant a seed you must nurture it. Teach your children to be compassionate and faithful; be a good steward of the temple God gave you. But be patient — give your seed time to grow. [46:58] Identify Your Seed You must be intentional about your seeds. Identify them — are they your children, a business, or something else? Do something for your seeds, and you’ll see the results of your nurturing. Defend it from the difficulties you face today so that your harvest does not suffer in the future. Notable Quotes: [14:03] “It's about having the discipline and having the mentality that it's not about the completion of a task that makes me a goal-oriented person. Because that's not good enough for me, frankly, because when you hit that goal, there's always going to be something else.” [20:41] “If you're not careful, the Enemy is not just going to try to take you out on big things. He's even here to steal your fun.” [42:10] “When you plant a seed, and a couple of weeks later, you see just a little green? That’s what God does for us. He shows us a little bit of green to go, ‘Hey, it’s working. Keep going.’” [50:28] “My family is not going to have to slay the giants that are already slayed by God. They will not slay the giants that have already slayed, because I'm putting it in today.” Resources Mentioned: Galatians 6:9 Romans 12:2

The Ten Commandments Chad Boersema Many focus on MAKING disciples, we hope to help in the process of BEING a disciple of Jesus. Understanding the ten commandments can be a good place to reflect on, as they were one of Israel's first introductions to learning how to relate to God and live in His way. Jesus also references the commandments in his sermon on the mount saying, “...whoever does them [the commandments] will be called great in the kingdom of heaven.” (Matthew 5:19) Looking forward to exploring these with you!
