Hey girl, hey, and thanks for dropping into the Switch Paveter Quit Podcast. Candy Convo for the girl needing a lifestyle plot twist when she's deciding if it's time to switch, pivot, or quit. I'm Ayanna Angel, a former sports entertainment publicist in New York City, turned traditionally published author with Simon & Schuster, who quit my old life to write a book, live in London for a bit, and explore my dreams to find my happiness and fulfillment. I'm here to help encourage and guide you through your plot twist years as your chief and carrager and host of the Switch Paveter Quit Podcast.

Be sure to rate, review, and subscribe on iTunes if you have enjoyed listening to this podcast so far, and check out SwitchPaveterQuit.com for even more personal and professional development resources. But for now, just sit back, open your mind, and enjoy the show. Today's episode is going to be a solo episode, and we're going to be talking about getting back up. Admittedly, this was not a planned episode, but I felt like it was something I needed to talk about today.

Like somebody needed to hear this this week. So I'm going to talk about it and we're going to get into it. You tried. And you failed.

You tried. And you failed again. You tried again. And you failed again.

But then you tried. And you won. Think of how many times a person must try and attempt and put forth their best effort before they reach a point of a positive outcome, a desired outcome, an outcome of success, of winning. We've talked about taking chances before, and I know that taking chances can be scary at times, but it's just oh, so necessary.

We all know this. But if you never tried, then you never know what's possible. If things don't go exactly according to your plan, then you bounce back, you get back up, and you try again. You take another chance.

You take another stab at it. You take another aim at it. You shoot your shot again. How many stories have we heard of authors that are New York Times bestsellers who get rejected initially by maybe all the major publishers?

None of the literary agents want to work with them. Then they release their book, Independent. And all of a sudden everybody wants to work with them. Next thing you know is the New York Times bestseller, and then movies are even made from it.

Hmm, heard that story before, right? How many people have launched businesses to no success? Virtually crickets? No one was interested.

They thought it was the best idea ever. But for some reason it didn't work. Only to then turn around and use what they've learned from that failure, from that knockdown, and launch a bigger, better business that they even sell to somebody else for millions. Okay?

Millions. How many executives were undervalued, passed over, overlooked for promotions? Just one thing after another. Almost felt like they couldn't do anything right before finally finding their groove, getting in their lane, and eventually becoming a stellar success within their industry, becoming senior management, becoming C-suite level.

How many people have that happened to? I'm sure you know of someone. And what's the theme here? The theme is simple.

We all get knocked down, such as life. But those who come out on the top are those who pop back up, and they're ready for the next challenge. They're like, let's go. Fists up fighting, pushing their way out of that corner that they felt backed in by that failure, by that thing that didn't work out the way that they thought it was going to work out.

They come out swinging, they're ready to go again. There's this quote that says, the one who falls and gets up is so much stronger than the one who never failed. Let that just sit there for a second. I'm going to read it again, actually, because I really want this to sink in.

The one who falls and gets back up is so much stronger than the one who never failed. I like to think of it like this. Everybody has that friend who says, I was thinking about doing that. I was going to write that book.

I was going to take that class. I thought about starting that business. I know I could do that. If I really wanted to, I could do it too.

Everybody knows that person. But see, the key is they didn't. They didn't write that book. They didn't take that class.

They didn't try and get that degree or that certification. They didn't try to get that job. They didn't. Why?

A lot of people never try because they don't want to fall. Their fear of falling is so great that they decide to never try. I never want to be put in that category. And I know you don't either.

That's exactly why you're listening to the Switch Paverick podcast because you do not want to be put in that category of the person who never tries, who always said, I could, I should, I would. But you're not that person. You're not cut from that cloth. You're cut from the cloth of a winner.

That's why you've tried and you failed. You've tried and you've succeeded at some things, but you know that you could be nowhere without the effort that drive the ambition to at least try to allow yourself to experience the failure because that means you're making progress. That's some other people will never experience. To me, failing is like a badge of honor.

It may become one of the most exciting chapters in your story. And it says ultimately that you can endure that you're capable of persevering, that you're made to weather any storm, that you're stronger than any circumstance. Show me a life without challenge and pitfalls and I'll show you a person who has, they just haven't really lived. They haven't really lived.

And the majority of the reason is probably because that fear of falling. Fear has crippled their life. They haven't really lived. Now when I say all this, I say this because I want to lift you up in your efforts.

You might be going through a season right now where you tried something and it didn't work out. But I'm here to tell you that it is going to be okay. You must persevere. You must try again.

You must show up again because you are built for greatness. And the only way that your greatness can shine through is if you try again, if you keep going, you might get down at times. We all get down at times. We all have our moments where we question ourselves.

We question our ideas, our thoughts, our actions. We wonder if we could have made better decisions. We wonder if we're really cut out for it. When you get down, the main thing is you can get down, but don't let them count you out.

Don't let them count you out. And you know how you do that. You know how you don't let them count you out is you always bet on the house. You know who the house is?

The house is you, honey. The house is you. The house always wins. You have to operate with that mindset that I am the house and the house always wins.

And then you just let the rest watch you work. Let them watch you work. Now, when they're watching you work, you might get down at times. You might fall sometimes.

Okay, let them watch your whole story so that they know when you come on the other side of everything that you've been through, this was no one hit wonder. This was no overnight success. I built this. I worked hard for this.

I let you watch me work. So now you can celebrate with me or you can get on. Now we can't focus on the fall or the knockdown as a negative either. We have to embrace it as getting us one step closer to our victory because you are created to continuously fall.

You got to know this. You will not continuously fall. It will be a point where the fall turns into the wind and the rise, but you are equipped to fail, persist, learn, apply it and then kill it. As I always say, you know exactly how to do that too.

Once you've fallen so many times, gotten back up so many times, when it's really your time to kill it, you will know exactly what to do. And sometimes your greatest triumph is on the other side of your biggest disappointment. I'll leave you with that this week. I hope that this served you well because I don't know.

I just knew that I needed to talk about this idea of getting back up, this idea of failure and how it really plays into our real lives, not that sugarcoated version of like self-help and all that stuff. No, what does this really look like? Yes, we fall, but yes, we can get back up. We should get back up because we're made for greatness.

We don't have a choice. We have to keep going. When these dreams, these thoughts, these ideas are in your mind and in your heart. And not there for no reason.

Your desire for success is not there for no reason. It's there because it is achievable for you. But that doesn't mean that you won't fall and that you won't have to pull yourself back up. And let me just add this other little thing too.

Don't look around for other people who always pull you back up. It's good to have encouraging resources and people that will cheer you on, but in the end, that strength has to come from inside. That desire has to come from inside. That's the thing that will make it sustainable.

Not other people cheering you on or telling you did great or telling you to keep going. No, that has to come from you in the end. That has to come from you. Many of you know me as the chief encourager, but I am not just your chief encourager.

I don't just talk it. I walk it as well. So if you head over to switchpivatorquit.com, you will find a tab that has resources on it. So within those resources, you will find different things that will assist you in your journey with making a switch pivot or quit.

And one of the things that I'm really excited about is something that I've chatted with you guys about before, especially if you've joined me on Instagram live. And that is the switch pivot or quit planner that is now available. It's the switch pivot or quit planner, a lifestyle guide to personal change for professional gain. You can go and sign up for that right now because it is available at switchpivatorquit.com.

And like I said, I don't just talk it. I walk it. And if you didn't know, I have an extensive professional background in marketing, PR and branding and all of the like, I've also traditionally published a book as well. And I just have had my hands in a number of things.

So I've been around the block. I know some things. And because of that, and for that reason, I now offer pick my brain sessions. There are 60 minute sessions where you can chat with me about what might be blocking you, what you think your next step should be, how to brand yourself, how to get on the other side of your switchpivator quit, how to get through your switchpivator quit.

We can talk about digital marketing. We can talk about podcast development. If you are thinking of maybe starting your own podcast, we can talk about podcast growth. If you have already started your podcast, but you're looking to get to that next level with your podcast, we can talk about social media strategy.

If you are someone who is trying to brand yourself online and you're trying to develop a better strategy to make some headway in your presence online, we can also go over book publishing, both traditional and self publishing as I've done both. And we can talk about DIY. So doing it yourself, public relations, pitching, planning, the execution of what that process looks like. Now, there's also courses on all of these topics, but if you're someone who just is ready to jump in or you've already started doing some of the work, pick my brain 60 minute session is a good place for you to be because you can ask me very direct and specific questions and I can help you either brainstorm or strategize to come on the other side of what you're looking to do.

And these sessions are a hybrid. And I call them a hybrid because they are a mix of coaching as well as consulting. So if you are unfamiliar with what that means, coaching is where I'm helping you to come up with your right answers. I'm helping you filter through the information that you're giving me to see what you might actually want to see or need to see.

And then on the consulting side, there are things that I have expertise in. There's things that I know for certain. So in those areas, I will consult with you and I will let you know from my professional opinion and my professional perspective what I know works and maybe what you should do, what I would recommend that you do. So these are the 60 minute pick my brain sessions that you are welcome to sign up for and they are available on switchpivatorquit.com.

You scroll down, you'll see them almost immediately. You just click book now and you can book your session according to your schedule and your availability. And I'm excited to work with all of you to talk to you. I've been working with a lot of you already and these sessions have been amazing and I like it because we can get very specific to you.

We don't have to talk to generalities. You can ask me about your specific situation and I can tell you what I think. And then there's also an opportunity for you to provide background information, links that you want me to look at and things of that nature so that when we get on the phone for your session, we can maximize that time. I am all about seeing my people, my peers, my community win.

And after so much time, people just telling me like, this is your gift. You know how to get people straight. You know how to tell them what to do. You know how to help them strategize.

You know how to help them work through what they're going through. I said, you know what? I need to really offer these pick my brain sessions because I can't determine what you might be dealing with. Only you know what you're dealing with and going through, but I can help you get on the other side of things.

So that's why I'm offering these sessions. They are not tailored to any specific one type of person type of industry type of thing. It is based off of my expertise. And if you're thinking, how do I know if she is the right person for me to book a pick my brain session with?

Poke around, check my credentials, listen to some podcasts that I've been on, listen to the Switch Pivina Quit podcast and just see if the vibe is right. And you think that I can help you get on the other side of what it may be that you're facing right now. Sign up. If you don't think it's right, don't sign up.

I only want to work with people that I really feel like I can help. And those in my community that have been rocking the Switch Pivina Quit, I love you guys so much because you are so ambitious. You are so on. You book your sessions.

You ask the questions that you want to ask. You gather the information and then you do the work. You do the work and then you tell me about the results. So I absolutely love it.

And I just encourage you to go and check it out and book your session if you feel calm to do so. In any case, thank you so much for hanging out with me this week. And as always, keep killing it.

Barnum. Some laws teach the need for prudence (“Law 1: Never Outshine the Master”), others teach the value of confidence (“Law 28: Enter Action with Boldness”), and many recommend absolute self-preservation (“Law 15: Crush Your Enemy Totally”). Every law, though, has one thing in common: an interest in t Tao Te Ching by Laozi (Author), Stephen Mitchell (Full Audiobook) Laozi Lao-tzu's Tao Te Ching, or Book of the Way, is the classic manual on the art of living, and one of the wonders of the world.
