E20 - Bringing Movement To The Metaverse With Remco Sikkema

from Future Signal · host Jarrett Carpenter

I was raised in the world of Web1, went to High School and College in web2 and more recently have found myself not only immersed but fascinated daily by the people I meet via web3, NFTs and the metaverse. The metaverse especially is maturing seemingly weekly as more and more funding is allocated towards the space. Citi bank has high expectations for the metaverse, with its analysts projecting the Web3 economy to reach up to $13 trillion dollars in valuation by 2030. The metaverse has the potential to seamlessly blend the physical and digital world in an immersive way like we’ve never seen before. And one of the key challenges to ensure that the metaverse flows is making sure we, as the metaverse’s participants, are able to express ourselves and maintain our physical world identities through motion as we do in real life. And for this episode, I can’t think of a better guest to discuss how we will move in the metaverse than Remco Sikkema. Remco and I met on LinkedIn where his daily posts are an impressive window into how the metaverse will incorporate our human movement into AR, VR and/or MR spaces. Remco is the Senior Marketing Manager for Movella and Xsens and really finds himself on the forefront of movement technology which will ideally allow all interested parties to one day move freely and uniquely in AR, VR and/or MR spaces in the metaverse. As a footnote to this episode, I’d like to clarify two things - First, the NFT project I mentioned that had a technical problem and lost $24 million well, it was actually $34M. And secondly, Remco confirmed that the Xsens suit‘s price tag is not $10k but actually $3.5k and if you’re interested in acquiring one - please reach out to Remco on LinkedIn for more information. In this episode, we discuss: ✔️ Web1 - Web3 ✔️ Metaverse community ✔️ NFT wins and failures ✔️ Avatar communication ✔️ Motion-Print ✔️ Xsens Motion Capture ✔️ VR and AR ✔️ Afterlife Metaverse ✔️ Digital IP & copyright ✔️ And of course about Movella Be sure to follow us on social media @ More Than Blockchain and subscribe wherever you listen to the podcast.  Twitter - https://www.twitter.com/morethanblckchn Instagram - https://www.instagram.com/morethanblockchain Facebook - https://www.facebook.com/morethanblockchain LinkedIn - https://www.linkedin.com/company/more-than-blockchain If you'd like to reach out to be a guest, please click the guest link below: https://www.liinks.co/morethanblockchain To reach out to Jarrett, please message him on one of the social media accounts mentioned above or message him directly by visiting his website: https://www.jarrettcarpenter.com
