Dr. Leung is an internationally renowned pharmacognosist and author. He holds a BS in Pharmacy from the National Taiwan University and M.S. and PhD degrees in pharmacognosy from University of Michigan. Dr. Leung is one of a handful of scientists in the world who has the unique training, experience and knowledge to correctly identify botanical raw materials and to produce genuine traditional extracts using appropriate modern technology. For over 45 years, he has been an advocate for product identity and quality in the herbal industry, and is known for his no nonsense approach, clearly reflected in his publications. From 1996 to 2004, he published the Leung’s Chinese Herb News, a newsletter that has positively impacted research and product quality in the herbal field. He is the founder of four companies, two of which have received competitive grant contract from the US government for research on herbs. The last one was from 2000 to 2005 for 1.4 million to find innovative ways to analyze and standardize complex herbs. Dr. Leung’s most recent book, My Life and Rollercoaster Career.
