Media.com. Welcome to 7-Minute Sunday on the Switch River Quick Podcast. I'm your host, I'm your host, I'm Angel, and we are going to spend the next seven minutes together. Getting you filled up with inspiration and goodness, to get your mind primed to achieve greatness as you enter the week ahead.
This week, I want to share something that I guess is really relevant in my life right now. And the first thing I want to say is, catch yourself before you fall. Fall into a pit of burnout, that is. This week we're going to talk about giving yourself a little brace and not having to do all the things or be all the things to all the people.
Much of the time we feel like we have to show up, right? And we do. We do. Our lives are largely based on how we show up.
That's how people judge us. That's how people interact with us. That's how they determine if they want to work with us. That's how they determine if we're worthy of certain things.
It's how we show up. My showing up is just one piece of this big puzzle, right? We also have to manage expectations. When I say manage expectations, that's managed outside expectations and our internal expectations.
The expectations of ourselves. We have to give ourselves a little grace. We have to realize that we're human and that we are susceptible to our not. It can happen.
Yes, it can happen to you. You can listen to me. It can happen to me. But that's why I said, catch yourself before you fall because knowing that it can happen is one thing.
It's not enough. But really starting to see the signs of, hmm, am I doing too much? Do I have too much on my plate? Are way too many people depending on me?
These are the questions you need to ask yourself so that you can assess where you show up and how things are working or not working for you. And if the answer is yes to all those questions, it's time to re-value it. How can I take some of this stuff off and play? How can I delegate some of these things?
Let go of some responsibilities so that I can better serve myself and all those people around me who are depending on me. Letting go and giving up some of the control. It's a hard thing to do sometimes and I'm definitely speaking for personal experience. But I've realized lately that that's how you win.
That's how you actually get ahead. And there's certain people who are just better equipped to do certain things than you are, even though you've been doing it for years or you've just been doing it for an amount of time to where you feel very confident in it and you can't imagine someone else doing it. There should might be someone better suited to do it. Then you just reality.
When you start getting to that point where you recognize that you have too much when you play, that's when you have to start assessing. Could there be someone better suited for this particular action than I am? And that's just being real with yourself. That's just being responsible because if you hit that point of burnout, it can take a long time to rebound because let's think about what it's ever looked like.
When you hit that point of burnout, you're tired, you're frustrated, you're over it, you're overworked, you have no motivation, there is nothing pulling you to continue to go forward. There's everything saying I must stop and it's sort of like a shutdown period. And what happens when there's a shutdown? We can think of it in terms of a computer.
We can think of a shutdown in terms of let's say a plant, a plant like an industrial plant or something like that, like a real place of business that does heavy manufacturing and that kind of stuff, what happens when they have to shut down? What happens when your computer has to shut down? It takes time to reboot. It takes time to get back online.
Once you take something offline, it takes time to get it back online. Do you hear me, do you feel what you understand me? That time, that process cannot be rushed either. And that's where I reason because the systems have to do everything that is required.
They have to check this box, that box, take all the boxes, and order to get back online. You cannot sidestep the process. You cannot make it go any faster. It must do what is required to be fully functional and fully capable of performing again once back online.
Think of yourself the same way. Think of your body, your mind, all of the same way. Once it shuts down, once it reaches that point of burnout, it is going to take time to get back online. It is going to take time for you to reboot and there's nothing that you are going to be able to do to split up that process.
Partially because your mind, your body, your spirit, your energy just won't even let you. It won't even be here for you. So the way that we sort of make sure that we don't reach that point is we give ourselves regular maintenance, just like we would give a computer regular maintenance or a company or a plant regular maintenance. We have to do that for ourselves as well.
Sometimes that maintenance includes giving ourselves grace, being patient with ourselves, redirecting and redistributing responsibilities. Sometimes that looks like stopping a few hours earlier than normal when it's stopping that just stopping the work. Sometimes that means taking a personal day. Sometimes that means giving yourself a self-care routine or treat or just taking a whole weekend to yourself.
It may look completely different for everybody, but I felt like it was really important for me to just drop in and talk about that real quick because we live in this culture where people make you think that it's cool, it's successful, it is admirable to go go go go go go go. But we're just now starting to talk about the effects of the go go go go go approach and it does have effects on us. We're human. We're not even getting into all the effects, but it can truly affect us health wise too.
You know, you can start to see your health to hear your aid and what's going to happen if you work in a company that requires you to go go go go but then your health starts diminishing as a result. When you're out of the, somebody else is going to take your place. You better believe it because the company is still going to move forward. What do they say to all people?
One month you don't stop no show. So guess what? You out down in the dumps, feeling bad, looking bad, burnt out health suffering as a result. And who cares?
Not them because the show must go on. That's why you have to do what you need to do. Listen to your body. Assess your situation and figure out what's going on.
What ways can I potentially meet this before it happens. You know, cutting off at the past. What ways can I do that because if you don't take the time to do that, nobody else is going to do that and the show must go online. So please take the time to pay attention to yourself.
Your body. What's happening with you so that you can avoid burnout. The culture making you like everything is go go go go go go. But everybody's not always sharing what they're doing to pour back into themselves.
That's not what's the cool part. They're the great part of the conversation where it makes you feel like you're just or look like you're super successful. We're just doing all the things. You know, people are not always sharing what they're doing on the back end to ensure that they can continue to look like they're doing all the things.
Take care of yourselves. It's really I guess the message that overall message of today, take care of yourself and don't allow yourself to get to that point of burnout because once you get to that point of burnout it's hard to recover and bounce back right away. You definitely won't bounce back right around. I almost show you that.
So that leads me into another point that I want to make. I guess it's more like an announcement to avoid burnout for myself and to look out for Nuro Uno, seven minutes and days will be going on hiatus for the remainder of the spring and summer. I know I know so many of you love seven minutes and days I get it. I absolutely get it.
But for those who don't know and are not aware, I am working out of rate where we're producing two episodes a week. That's a lot of what happened for the past two and a half years. So as more things come up to my plate and as I continue to grow, amazing media and put forth the efforts to make it the best destination and platform for you to experience. I have to make sure that I am avoiding burnout in one of the ways we're going to do that.
It's what I'll seven minutes and days to go on hiatus for the remainder of the spring and the summer. And the part of the reason why I know you guys will be okay is because hey, there's tons of past episodes that you can listen to and be it's beautiful outside when the weather changes are moved change the days are longer. The warmth is starting to be in the air. We're doing branches with friends.
We're going to outdoor festivals and concerts. We're having dinner on beautiful nights on patios. So seven minutes and a really, really helps us to be in a positive headspace when we are in those winter months and in the spring and summer, we don't need it as much, right? We're feeling good.
It just naturally our moods are boosted naturally because of the time of the year. So I hope you are understanding of the fact that I am doing West best for me and West best for our community to keep it growing and thriving. And for those who have already heard, there will be a membership community coming. It is going to be called the Mazy membership.
So with a Mazy membership that will still allow you to be able to engage with me in different ways and potentially get some of your seven minutes from that space in that community. It's not seven minutes. So in the day over there, but still we'll be doing a ton of great things within the Mazy membership community that will fill us up. And the link in the announcement for the Mazy membership community is not available just yet, but it will be this week.
So without further that, you can find the link on mazymedia.com. That's M-A-Y-Z-I-E media.com as well as on the Switch River for M-A-Z Media Instagram. If you're not already following Mazymedia, the Instagram account be sure to head over there and follow that. That's Mazymedia.
Just fill that like I just love it. M-A-Y-Z-I-E go follow over there because there'll be tons of updates and good stuff coming through that space as well. As always, thank you for hanging out with me. I will speak to you all soon.
Even though we will have seven minutes on days weekly for the next coming weeks, you will hear from me. You can count on that. So until you hear from me again, as always, be good.
