In a lot of ways, Willam Stoughton was the original Judge Judy. Serving as Chief Justice during the Salem Witch Trials (1692-1693), Stoughton was a stern and extremely pious man who truly believed he was sent by God to chase the Devil out of Massachusetts Bay.
