Most dividend investors know the dividend yield of their investments quite well. But far too many don't bother to consider the yield on cost of their investment. What is the yield on cost anyway? And why should you care about it? The yield on cost is the yield you are receiving on the cost of your original investment. It matters because certain high growth dividend stocks can give you a better yield on cost than high yield stocks over a longer period of time.
