E281 - Dr. Laurie Weiss - Author With Forty Years Practicing Psychotherapy and Coaching

from Living The Next Chapter: Candid Conversations with Authors and Writers for Readers Searching for a New Read · host Dave Campbell, Dr. Laurie Weiss

EPISODE 281 - Dr. Laurie Weiss - Author With Forty Years Practicing Psychotherapy and CoachingAfter over 40 years practicing psychotherapy and coaching, I had no intention of starting a new phase of my career. In fact, before a colleague used Logosynthesis to end my overreaction to loud events in just a few minutes, while standing in a parking lot, I was planning to retire, content with a long career as a relationship communication expert. My husband/business partner and I were so intrigued with this recently discovered tool that we just had to learn more. We were thrilled when we found we could help our clients make important life changes in a fraction of the time, and with a fraction of the pain ordinarily associated with psychotherapy. Now, ten years later, we are both Certified Logosynthesis Trainers and Master Practitioners. And now, in addition to a 7-book Secrets of Happy Relationships Series, and several very popular books on psychotherapy, codependency and personal growth, I can offer you two exciting books on Logosynthesis® for rapid anxiety relief using only words. My first major book, Recovery from Codependency, co-authored with my husband, Jonathan B. Weiss, Ph.D., stated:       “This book is written to help end the cycle of child abuse, in which the abused child grows into an Adult Child who passes the abuse to his own children. Our purpose is to help create a world in which each child is treated with love, honor, respect and appropriate limits.”I would now add that all my work is directed toward creating a world where each person is treated that way. That means helping as many adults as possible heal from their childhood wounds. Adults who experience joy instead of pain can avoid passing on the wounds they experienced when they were small to anyone else.  My hope is to contribute to having safety and appropriate nurturing for all of us.My professional background also includes a Ph.D. and certification as a Teaching and Supervising Transactional Analyst, International Transactional Analysis Association and Master Certified Coach, International Coach Federation. My work has been translated into German, Chinese, Spanish, French, Portuguese, Arabic and possibly Russian.Personally, my personal life has been intertwined with my professional life since I started working with my husband in 1970. We have 2 children and 5 grandchildren. Married in 1960, we have traveled extensively, teaching (and playing) in 13 different countrieshttps://laurieweiss.com/___https://livingthenextchapter.com/Support the show___https://livingthenextchapter.com/podcast produced by: https://truemediasolutions.ca/Coffee Refills are always appreciated, refill Dave's cup here, and thanks!https://buymeacoffee.com/truemediaca
