E288: “Phoenix Rising” – Eileen Robertson-Hamra Interview

from Fire in The Belly · host Fire in The Belly

Eileen joins me today to talk about her journey surviving an event that no-one should have to – losing her husband and the father of three of her children in a plane crash just a few days before Christmas. In the months and years that followed Eileen became determined to find joy and purpose in her life following that tragedy, both for herself and as an example for her children. With her MBA in finance, she became an angel investor, using the money she gained through ethical capitalism to make a positive impact in the world. She is also a yogi, a holistic wellness and life coach, and an author. Her book Time to Fly was seven years in the making. She has since remarried to her second soulmate and she and her new husband completed their blended family with the birth of baby Zack a few years ago. I loved talking with Eileen about her process from businesswoman to host of coaching retreats and getting her particular spin on creativity and spirituality. I know you will, too. Please join us.    KEY TAKEAWAYS- your community is there to help you through hard times, if you can find the strength within yourself to ask for help.  Finding any purpose will get you out of bed. It’s a beautiful process to incorporate (Brian)’s memory into the present moment.”- “What I noticed in those moments, what was present for me was so much love. It was people reaching out. Every human being no matter even what they said, even if they said the wrong thing -- you know, they were doing it all out of love.” “The pain is right there for us to go through.”  ABOUT THE GUEST Eileen is a mother, a wife, a yogi, a holistic nutritionist, a life coach, and an author. She has seen first-hand the positive changed wrought by ethical capitalism and is an impact investor.  Just over 10 years ago, her husband Brian died in a tragic plane crash a few days before Christmas, leaving Eileen and their three young children to cope and re-imagine their life after that unimaginable loss. After she mourned the loss of what could have been, she became determined to shape meaning out of grief, and to live her life with a sense of passion and joy.
