E38 - Digital Real Estate Investing With Tomas Nascisonis

from Future Signal · host Jarrett Carpenter

Traditionally, real estate has been thought of in terms of either physical residential or commercial properties - everything from the single family home to a massive office park. The internet, however, made us rethink real estate and brought to the forefront the idea of "digital real estate" - you know where domains, like physical addresses, were coveted as they were unique and non-fungible. An example of this is owning a domain like hope.com, which Michael Saylor proudly owns, and he's been known to say "Who wouldn't want to own hope?" Another and maybe more prominent example of owning digital real estate are the millions of content creators who leverage youtube to share their ideas with the world. Many content creators see their videos as digital real estate in an ever more digital world ie it's a good thing to have your ideas, brand, company, etc take up space where people are looking to find answers and socialize. And in the future, this idea of positioning yourself or your company or your brand in places where people will go for answers and to socialize is directly tied to the metaverse or the many virtual worlds where people can own land, own property, rent property and provide value. Just like how owning real estate in Manhattan is valuable today - in the future, and even today, owning plots of land or buildings or even an apartment in either Decentraland or Sandbox, two of the most prominent virtual worlds is a big deal. Rapper and social icon Snoop Dogg famously owns millions of dollars of real estate in Sandbox and I think, as my guest today does, that as we begin to spend more time in virtual worlds, real estate in virtual worlds, or the metaverse, will become increasingly more sought after. On this episode, I chat with Tomas from crypto house capital about their virtual real estate brokerage and how they're trying to onboard interested people and investors into the world of virtual real estate.
