E49 Thatta Kimura

from The Industry

Bartender, lesbian, activist - Thatta Kimura has been working in the hospitality area in Sao Paulo, Brazil for more than 9 years. She has worked in major recognized and award winning establishments such as Attimo and Frank Bar. In addition to bartending for the past two and a half years - she has served as Manager and team leader at a bar where she was able to implement a 100% female and LGBTQIA + team, being one of the only diverse teams in Brazil in the high end cocktail market. Thatta is an experienced and successful Bartender in classic cocktails and stands out in this market, and now she wants to generate more equal opportunities for women in the industry. One of her projects is the creation of the Ada Coleman Collective. This organization together with other Bartenders in the area, raised funds that were directed to women in the hospitality sector. This was accomplished by raising funds from the general public, crowdfunding, from bars and restaurants and as well as major brands and websites. The Collective continues to organize workshops and distributing scholarships for the training and reintegration of women in the market.
