E51: Dr. Kelly Goldsmith: How Uncertainty Impacts Your Decision Making
from The Aligned Love Podcast · host Lauren Zoeller
Professor Kelly Goldsmith is a behavioral scientist whose research examines consumers’ psychological and behavioral responses to uncertainty. Her research is highly interdisciplinary in nature, drawing upon theories and methods from a variety of areas, including anthropology, cognitive and social psychology, economics, evolutionary biology and marketing. As part of her research, she conducts controlled experiments in typical consumer contexts, which allows her to ground her theories in relevant marketplace phenomena. Because her research bridges theory and practice, it contributes not only to more nuanced theories of consumer decision making, but also to new techniques for marketers, firms and policy makers. Professor Goldsmith’s work has appeared in several top marketing and psychology journals. She also serves on the editorial review boards for the Journal of Marketing Research, the Journal of Consumer Research, and the Journal of Consumer Psychology. In this episode, Kelly speaks to:- The reason we couldn’t find toilet paper or hand sanitizer when COVID-19 became the number one news story- What positive outcome can come from encountering scarcity- How to avoid the scarcity mindset trap when we are surrounded by scarcity triggersFollow Professor GoldsmithInstagram: @profgoldsmithWebsite: profgoldsmith.comCheck out her TEDx talk! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pr7f-0bUC-0Follow Lauren:IG: @laurenzoellerWebsite: laurenzoeller.comLove?
