E58: Minisode Embracing Grief: Healing Through Sadness
from Midlife Purpose Project: Guiding 40+ women toward Purpose, Peace, and Reinvention
Grief and trauma live in the body, draining us of energy and vitality. But it can also be a tremendous teacher, inviting us to delve deeper into ourselves and into life. Sadness can help us gain clarity, purpose and foster gratitude. It can also help us connect with others. Sharing our sadness with others is an act of vulnerability that creates intimacy and deep connections and relationships. It can also help us connect with a higher power or spiritual practice. It can remind us of the impermanence of life and the solace and comfort that can come from connecting with something greater than ourselves. We must approach our sadness with gentleness and compassion, giving ourselves permission to experience the full expression of our emotions, with all the ebbs and flows, without judgement or expectation. We must be patient with ourselves grief and not try to rush it along. We must allow it to be with us for as long as it needs to be to teach us the lessons it has to offer. I hope this meditation left you feeling some peace and gives you the confidence to know that you can feel through your grief a little at a time. So much love and gratitude to you!
