In this passionate conversation between Rebecca Jones and Alejandra Castillo, we discuss the intersectionality of race and gender and how the two affect many women in the workplace. Alejandra is the CEO of the nonprofit organization YWCA whose slogan is “eliminating racism, empowering women”. She explains the importance of YWCA in many communities and how the organization stands at the forefront of women and people of color. Alejandra describes her career path as a butterfly metamorphosis as she is constantly evolving. She explains how she measures her success by how she contributes to an organization long term and not only for the present benefit. She also goes on to explain how she doesn't want to shatter the glass ceiling, but instead do away with it completely.
