When was the last time that you took pride is something that was brand new to you? Perhaps it was a new vehicle, house, watch or piece of furniture.    Chances are, over time, the pride that you once took in that new object probably began to fade away.   The reason for this is because of something called hedonic adaptation.   It turns out that when good things happen in our lives, we have a spike in our appreciation for those good things.
