E70: The World is Our Classroom: Extreme Parenting and The Rise of Worldschooling with Dr. Jennie Germann Molz

from The Homeschool Project Podcast · host Nathan and Anita

Hello and welcome back to the campfire! Today we have the pleasure of Dr. Jennie Germann Molz joining us for a conversation. Dr. Molz is a Professor of Sociology at the College of the Holy Cross in Worcester Massachusetts and is the author of the newly released book, The World Is Our Classroom: Extreme Parenting and the Rise of Worldschooling.   Drawing on interviews with parents and stories from the blogs they publish during their journeys, as well as her own experience traveling the world with her ten-year-old son, she takes us inside a fascinating life spent on trains, boats, and planes. She shows why many parents―disillusioned with standard public schooling―believe the world is a child’s best classroom. Rebelling against convention, these parents combine technology and travel to pursue a different version of the good life, one in which parents can work remotely as “digital nomads,” participate in like-minded communities online, and expose their children to the risks, opportunities, and life lessons that the world has to offer.  So grab a seat by the fire as we discuss how more and more families are choosing the world as their classroom! If you like what you hear and have enjoyed our show, please show your appreciation by subscribing to our Podcast and leaving us a review on your Podcast App of choice. We would love to hear from you so please email us with any comments or questions you have.Visit us and all of our content, including our blog, at www.thehomeschoolprojectpodcast.comAs always, let's Light A Fire They Can't Put OutThank you for listening!Show NotesDr. Molz' s book:The World is Our Classroom: Extreme Parenting and The Rise of Worldschooling The World Is Our Classroom (nyupress.org)or you can purchase on Amazon at:The World Is Our Classroom: Extreme Parenting and the Rise of Worldschooling (Critical Perspectives on Youth, 8): Molz, Jennie Germann: 9781479834075: Amazon.com: BooksYou can find Dr. Jennie Germann Molz at College of the Holy Cross | A highly selective, four year, undergraduate, Jesuit, liberal arts institution.
