That's Shopify.ca. It's time to see what you can accomplish with Shopify by your side. Welcome to 7 Minute Sunday on the SwitchPave to a Quick Podcast. I'm your host, Ayanna Angel, and we are going to spend the next seven minutes together getting you filled up with inspiration and goodness to get your mind primed to achieve greatness as you enter the week ahead.

So today we're going to be talking about doing what you can. I read something online that said, don't think about what can happen in a month. Don't think about what can happen in a year. Just focus on the 24 hours in front of you and do what you can to get closer to where you want to be.

Now, doesn't this statement just make you feel a sense of relief in a way? And it's not that you're completely relieving yourself of ambition or anything of that nature, but it's just saying it's okay to slow down. It's okay to do what you can. You don't have to think that you're a bionic woman and you have to accomplish all these things in one day, in one week, in one month.

No, do what you can. Sometimes things can seem really overwhelming, especially when we put this pressure on ourselves, like we have to figure it all out immediately. We don't. This thing called life is ever-evolving, and the secret is that only a small percentage of us have it all figured out completely and totally.

But most of us, which I fall into that category too, are just feeling our way through daily. We're constantly learning. We're constantly evolving. We're constantly accomplishing things that are on our list.

And one of the keys to making progress is that we have to break our challenges, aspirations, our goals, down into smaller chunks so that we can handle them. The constant daily pressures that we put on ourselves can oftentimes cause us to actually get stuck. Sometimes if you wonder why you have so much on your plate, but you're not getting anything done when you look up at the end of the day, you're like, how could it be that I only got this one thing done, or that I didn't get anything done out of all these things that I have to get done or that I need to get done? Well, sometimes it's because everything that you have to do is so overwhelming and so potentially intimidating that you get stuck, you almost get paralyzed, and you don't get anything done.

You don't move any closer to your goals or achieving anything that you wanted to achieve in the day. Take, for example, when you look at a mountain, and it seems too high, and you just don't feel properly skilled or equipped to climb that mountain. It seems impossible. You're looking up and you're like, wow.

From my perspective, it is almost touching the sky. It's like a hundred times bigger than me. There's all of these sharp edges and all of these things that can be obstacles put in my way. I can't possibly see how I can climb this mountain.

It just seems crazy. But it's okay to pace yourself and to focus on the things that absolutely require your immediate attention, like learning the fundamentals and acquiring the tools. So that before you know it, if you're actually climbing that mountain and you've gotten started by putting one foot above the other, moving from rock to rock without making a big deal about it, it's because you have the tools and the skills to become confident essentially in that climb. You're not sitting here still trying to figure out how to climb that entire mountain, how to reach the top.

You're working with what you have, and you're achieving what you can based off of what you know. So take it all one day at a time, 24 hours at a time. Take it slowly, but just make sure that you are achieving something in your days. Don't try to achieve everything in your days.

Just something. And you know what? You might just surprise yourself. So before I go, I want to talk to you very quickly about something that I'm going to introduce in the month of December.

So for those out there who are vlog watchers or YouTube watchers, you probably have heard of something called vlogmas. And vlogmas is where YouTubers will do daily vlogs leading up to Christmas. Now this is a lot of work and it's a lot of strain on somebody because especially in the vlog world, you're recording the videos, so you're capturing the content, then you have to go back and edit, and then put it out daily, daily, daily. So it's pretty taxing, but the whole point of it is, it's a challenge.

It's a challenge and viewers love it. And so I wanted to bring a similar challenge to the podcasting space. Anybody else that is a podcaster is welcome to join me in this challenge. I know that it's going to be a little different and potentially even difficult, but I feel like I'm up for the challenge and I want to do it.

You guys know me. If you've been around for any length of time, I like mixing things up. I like doing things different. I don't want this space to become stale or just the norm, the typical podcast where you guys.

So here it goes, podmas, hashtag podmas. It is going to start December 1 and it is going through the first 12 days of December. The first 12 days of December, you can expect a daily podcast from SwitchPivot or Quik. We're going to talk about a range of different things, something to do with a holiday, something to just do with personal and professional development.

But it's going to be fun. I'm going to have some special guests on as well, and some of it will just be me chime in, chatting, and chilling and talking with you guys. So I'm looking forward to this challenge and I hope that you'll join me on the journey. Again, as I said, it's going to start on December 1 and go through December 12.

So get ready for this ride. It should be very, very interesting. So I wanted to give you guys a heads up about that this week. And I hope that you'll join me and share.

And when you share, just use the hashtag podmas and any other podcasters out there. If you have any questions about it, feel free to email me. So with that, let's head into our week of amazingness, feeling good, feeling great, feeling energized. And as always, thank you for spending your time with me.

I hope you have an amazing week. Starting a business can be overwhelming. You're juggling multiple roles, designer, marketer, logistics manager, all while bringing your vision to life. Shopify is the commerce platform behind millions of businesses around the world.

The 48 Laws of Power by Robert Greene (Full Audiobook) Robert Greene Amoral, cunning, ruthless, and instructive, this multi-million-copy New York Times bestseller is the definitive manual for anyone interested in gaining, observing, or defending against ultimate control – from the author of The Laws of Human Nature. In the book that People magazine proclaimed “beguiling” and “fascinating,” Robert Greene and Joost Elffers have distilled three thousand years of the history of power into 48 essential laws by drawing from the philosophies of Machiavelli, Sun Tzu, and Carl Von Clausewitz and also from the lives of figures ranging from Henry Kissinger to P.T. Barnum. Some laws teach the need for prudence (“Law 1: Never Outshine the Master”), others teach the value of confidence (“Law 28: Enter Action with Boldness”), and many recommend absolute self-preservation (“Law 15: Crush Your Enemy Totally”). Every law, though, has one thing in common: an interest in t Tao Te Ching by Laozi (Author), Stephen Mitchell (Full Audiobook) Laozi Lao-tzu's Tao Te Ching, or Book of the Way, is the classic manual on the art of living, and one of the wonders of the world.
