This week we are joined by Teddy Martinez who is currently bartending in Long Beach, California. Teddy was born in Manila and moved to the United States when he was 3. Growing up as a half Mexican and half Filipino in such a diverse city as Los Angeles, Teddy was exposed to all types of culture growing up. This multicultural exposure has shaped Teddy’s personality as well as his cocktail style. Teddy is inspired by the rich vibrant, diverse flavors of Mexico and the tropical, Asian flavors of the Philippines. Furthermore, understanding how to marry these flavors requires Teddy to be constantly learning and dedicated to the craft.

Teddy dedicates his time to the art form just like he dedicates his time to living an active lifestyle. Teddy has been training in Martial Arts since 2006 and Crossfit/Weightlifting since 2011. Teddy used to coach both for a number of years prior to his bartending career. Teddy would bartend parties for friends for free by showing up with his shaker tins, booze and some ingredients. Teddy finally got his first shot bartending as a career, when a friend approached Teddy about working at their restaurant and leading up the bar program. Teddy learned a lot o the fly, made errors (naturally) and it gave him priceless experience. From working at a brewery/gastro pub to working in the heart of Hollywood and now in Long Beach, Teddy loves where his journey has taken him. Three years in the industry has gone by quickly and Teddy is looking forward to next the few years of being behind the stick. This is just the beginning,
