Stellar performance from LaBaron and he is having a great season so far. Aden Holloway came off the bench to score 24 pts, grab 3 rebs, 3 assists, 2 steals, and 2 TO’s. Holloway was very effective in this game scoring from all three levels. Houston Mallette had a solid outing with 14 pts, 7 rebs, and 2 steals Latrell Wrightsell had 10 pts, 3 rebs, and 2 steals And from the Bigs Aiden Sherrell had 6 pts, 7 rebs, 2 steals, and 3 blocks TBB had 9 pts, 9 rebs, and 2 blocks Issues Too many turnovers and struggled offensively when Philon was out of the game Bethea struggled in 14 mins as he had 5 pts, 3 rebs, and 1 steal, but was pressing too much and trying to do too much one on one on the offensive end instead of passing, cutting, and moving. Noah Williamson played 6 mins and is still not an impact player. Bama won, but should have won by 15 to 20 pts instead of by 11. Jemison got hurt and sat out the whole 2nd half Allen is hurt and did not play. Bristow had 4 pts, 3 rebs, 1 assist, 1 steal, and 1 block in 8 mins. Not sure why he didn’t play more. Who is your starting five? Who is your closing five? Who is your best five? Best three are Philon, Bethea, and Sherrell Philon is elite and one of the best guards in the SEC and in the nation and potential first team All-American. Philon is bringing it every game and is now a consistent 20 pt per game scorer no matter the competition. Philon scores at all three levels and makes his free throws. He has also cut down on his turnovers. When Holloway plays like he did against So Florida, he is elite and forms a great tandem with Philon. Holloway just does not play this well every game. His ceiling is really high, but his floor is much lower than Philon’s as he can be a non-factor in some games. The other two best players are Bristow and Holloway Mallette, Wrightsell, TBB, Allen, and Jemison all are solid players and contributors. Hannah seems out of control on offense and needs to work on his offense skills. He cannot finish at the rim or in the midrange. His three-point shot not reliable. He has work to do, but he is just a freshman. No team will go undefeated, but these three loses show that Bama has a ceiling that will be hard to break through. Alabama is now 8-3 on the season. Next up for Bama is a game against Kennesaw St on Sunday, Dec 21 at 1 pm. Two games left before the start of SEC play. Bama needs to go 2-0.
