Eagles, Chickens, and Lynx: An Unforgettable Expedition

Join my dad, Sheldon Rhodes, and I as we take you on a wild journey through the Alaskan wilderness, recounting a quirky adventure that started with a truckload of dead chickens and ended in an unforgettable trapping expedition. It all began when dad got his hands on a great deal for a bunch of chickens, and soon after, received an unexpected phone call from his friend Lewis Bradley, who invited him to join him on a lynx trapping trip using the chickens as bait. Their escapade took us to Eagle River, just north of Anchorage, and was filled with unexpected twists and turns. One of the most memorable moments was when they encountered an American eagle caught in one of the steel traps, and had to come up with a plan to safely release the majestic creature. As we reminisce about this chicken blessing from 50 years ago, we're reminded that even when things don't go as planned, there's always a silver lining to be found.
