from The Philadelphia Sports Table | Philly Sports News & Views · host The Philadelphia Sports Table
Week 9 of the Philadelphia Eagles 2021 season is now in the books as the Eagles lost a heartbreaker to the Los Angeles Chargers on a last second field goal in the fourth-quarter down at The Linc by a score of 27-24. The Eagles are now 3-6 on this developmental season. This week we were joined on the postgame podcast show by Gino Cammilleri (@GC24_Football) from the Locked on Eagles podcast. As we saw in week 8, Nick Sirianni decided that running the ball was still the best way forward with this Eagles offense as they faced one of the worst rushing defenses in the league. 176 yards rushing this week along with two rushing touchdowns is showing us where the strengths and weaknesses of the offense are. Jalen Hurts went 11/17 for 162 yards and 1 TD.The Eagles defense and coordinator Jonathan Gannon held the Chargers to under 100 yards rushing - 89 yards to be exact. However, the soft zone coverage time and time again allowed the Chargers to consistently drive down the field. The Chargers didn't punt once in this game. Justin Herbert threw 38 times for 356 yards and 2 TDs. While the defense played scrappy and tough this week during short yardage situations, they still weren't able to stop the last minute drive of the Chargers that solidified their win.As always, we gave our takeaways, dove into the stats, and graded the units and coaches.Head over to our website for more podcasts and more: https://www.philadelphiasportstable.com.Follow the guys on Twitter:Jeff Warren: @Jeffrey_WarrenErik Leonard: @BrickPolittLen Hunsicker: @LenHunsickerFollow the show on Instagram: @philadelphiasportstable"Like" our Facebook Page: facebook.com/PhiladelphiaSportsTable
