EAP Episode.19 - Michael Daks (Fashion & Music Photographer) : "I saw the film Blow Up. I knew then what I wanted to do"
from Eighties Archive Podcast · host David Arscott + John Mabey
*This episode features excerpts of 3rd party musical content* We had an enormous chat with one of the world's leading fashion photographers Michael Daks, charting his career from London to Paris to New York. From his days at Wolverhampton Art School to covering all of the Burton group's fashion presence, to landing a prestigious place at the New York times and witnessing the horror first hand on the morning of 9-11. From shooting his first music job with The Alarm, to working with The Smithereens, Momus, Dennis Potter and having his portrait of Kenneth Brannagh requested by the National Portrait Gallery. Not to mention his collections in book form and the books he is currently working on. A great supporter of our podcast Michael selects his top 5 tracks of the 80s and talks about his love of Elvis Costello and Barney Bubbles record sleeve art. He is a font of knowledge when it comes to the absolute photographic greats and admits to the running theme in his life story.....there always the presence of a very pretty girl! - DA
