Welcome to the best Hang podcast. I'm like, we got Shane, we're on different locations. I in Hamilton, Ontario. Max, where are you right now?

Just tell us quickly. I'm in Jefferson, Iowa. Jefferson, Iowa. Yeah, you're always there.

That's a big vacation hot spot. Shane, where are you? What part of the world are you in? I'm at the cottage right now.

Yeah, but where is that? Is that like the Moscokas? Is it, you know, it's your son, Ridge? I don't know.

I don't know. I just get in the car. I think it might be near the scope. I don't know.

I'm in Hamilton. I'm boring. I'm just in our beloved hometown, you know, pool with a little jandau earlier, I fixed that. Got to record a VO for a radio thing.

But yeah, other than that, things are going good. Radio thing? I will tell you all fine. It's not a thing.

Oh, drinking a kento. Everything I suggest is like, that's for later. No, no, no. Well, we will circle back right now if people were insuspense about why Max is in Jefferson, Iowa.

Max, give us the breakdown. Why are you there? Well, our old dear friend Nick Nurse is hosting a golf tournament in his town of Carol, Iowa, which is two towns over. Everything here requires you to fly through Chicago then to Des Moines and then an hour and a half drive.

You're really like in the middle of the corn field. And I thought we were signed up for like a gig of covers and it turned out that it wasn't just one gig. It was two gigs. Nick called me and said, no, no, it's not just Thursday.

It's Friday. We're playing two shows, man. The Thursday is for the locals. Friday is for the VIPs that are being flown in on with private jet.

And I think we might have Kyle Lowry in attendance. We might have John Calipari. I've heard about this. I'll be able to report back afterward.

I'm getting a real slice of a small town America. And it's actually funny. There's this one coffee shop, which is like along the side of like the highway country road called Chirpies or something. I don't know what's called, but the last two mornings I've been there and Matt Devlin, the voice of the Raptors has drove by picking up his coffee to go because he's here participating in the inter-former podcast with Nick and Matt, of course.

That's right. And actually I was hanging out with Tim Bot-Tamps last night, a third former podcast who's a fan basketball writer. But it was really interesting. There was this guy this morning who he kind of looked like Florida guy.

He was sort of like bald with like a ponytail in the back and he was wearing a colorful like surf shirt kind of thing, but like a skirt. And he had like these sort of like beaded necklaces on and I was like, what is the deal with this guy? Like who is this guy? Like this guy seems like the most interesting guy in Jefferson, Iowa.

So I got talking with him. Well, he actually started talking to me because he recognized me from the day before and he sat down and we started chatting. He's lived there his whole life. And it turned out, he was a minister for the Lutheran church, which really surprised me because I didn't think that's what the ministers look like.

Did he never ever you? Are you telling me? Are you announcing a religion? It kind of got there.

It kind of got there by the end of the conversation. He was just like shaking my hand. He wouldn't let it go. And he just said, remember that you are loved in the eyes of God.

Do you work with that sometimes? I often, most of the time. And yeah, so it really kind of was a bit of a curveball because I was hoping he'd be like the old gay hippie in town. That's what I was kind of hoping for.

And then you know, kind of Jesus on me. But interesting guy, my only issue with the guy, nice guy. He talked a lot though. Do you know what I mean?

Like when you could just tell somebody like the conversation was probably like 90-10. And him telling me stories about going to Manitoba and then saving this other woman from a court appearance. It's just, you know, I like learning about him, but I felt a little one sided. But you're so good at exiting conversations.

Why didn't you just employ some of your tactics? I am great. So I have to stand up and I said, listen, I got some important meetings. Like important meetings on a coffee shop.

And Jefferson, Iowa. And Jefferson, Iowa, but yeah, you got to stand up authoritatively. We've probably talked about this and looked them dead in the eye. Shaked, they're hanging up.

This has been awesome. This has been so great. You and then he says, you're loving the eyes of God. And that was that.

It was a that's been my morning. So far. Yeah, but we just got back from the Olympics and Newfoundland. So it's been like a lot of travel lately.

Not that I love the shot. You're sort of wrapping up the summer with a flurry of musical activity. Yeah. But the most important thing is to say about these weddings on Saturday, right?

That's the important thing to say, right? We're gonna be there, right? Are you gonna be there? Of course.

Yeah, I'll be there. Yeah, it's gonna be very exciting. Well, virtual had sent a thing about everybody going to this, like, what's it called? What's the thing with the horses?

The stakes, the woodmind stakes. So woodmind, I guess his barbearers Texas is throwing some events there on the Saturday day, so he put in the group A, everybody comes during care and then we'll roll into some of these wedding. That obviously is not gonna work. I'm not gonna go to Toronto and then come back to Hamilton for some of these wedding.

But it did look like fun. It made me wonder if all you Toronto, you and my brother and all that are gonna be going to that before the wedding. I think so. I'm gonna get off the plane at like 2 p.m.

in Toronto, shower and stuff and then maybe go to the King's plate for like an hour or something and then go right to the wedding. So yeah, but we're rolling right after this. Are you planning, because obviously, like you said, you're coming off this year in Iowa right now, you're out east, you're coming back from the Olympics in Paris, which we'll get to. Or do you feel like you're actually gonna put in some work on Saturday night?

Or are you just coming for a drink and then making an exit? You sort of. No, you know, we're going on a party bus. So I'm beholding to the party bus.

So we might be, when you say putting in work, it's just me drinking, right? Oh yeah, but you know, I feel like, you know, some people enjoy more than others. I feel like you really gotta get up to like go for it. Like we had a big family event here in my house, had a big pool party.

I do it every year for, my mom's side of family. So all our cousins are here, my mom's three siblings come. It's a really, I look forward to it. It's awesome.

We do it every year in August. My brother was here this year because it was, you know, it was his birthday. So we had some donuts and all that. But he was saying, I'm hung over as hell.

So he only had one beer because he was apparently was at with you the night before. So I was like, oh, you and Dan. And I was like, oh, I was like, did Max go for it? He's like, now I did that thing.

He's over a bit. I guess you guys went to something. You went to a concert. You maybe saw Joel Plaskett?

Yeah, I was like, Joel Plaskett. And then we went to a bar. And then at midnight, they were gonna keep going. And I was like, turn around.

Yeah. They kept going. And then so I got left over Greg at our pool party for our family on the Sunday. But alas, that's why I asked if you're actually going to commit to celebrate our good friend Matt Cervilly.

Yeah, who, if you, I think I was on the pod, a few glasses got broke at my wedding. And there's been a big mystery as it was. And then it came out, it was our dignified. A rare time of a festival.

I have a festival for him. Yeah. Is he Greek? Why was he smashing up?

I think he was a smash. I don't know if it was affiliate religion more so than just how much he consumed. But yeah. And then angry throwing.

I think he was a celebratory or something. Or maybe he just got into East Endomode and wanted to cause a bit of chaos. But obviously... He's standing in the bar.

Listeners is part of Hamilton that maybe, you know, is affiliated with that kind of behavior. Such parts. So anyway, the wedding on Saturday is my chance to really sort of fucking pay him back in time. No, I would.

But he's hosting the wedding is that cork town tavern, which is just a bar. It's not even really wedding. Glasses made air really wonderful. 100%.

Our band, our back of the day, our band, the Racky used to play there. And it was like a real, it was kind of a tough spot to get up and sort of give you your songs. And I don't know how much it sort of changed over the years. But he's wearing shorts and a t-shirt, by the way.

He's wearing. Yeah, you have to dress up. The invite said no dress code. But I thought that was one of those things where it's like, I got the suit, I remember buddy, Matt Unswear, but he's also getting married.

Safe for Unsies wedding. Don't wear it to the Civilie's wedding. What do you wear in Shane on Saturday? Like I'm going like half ass like a color shirt, dress pants, but not a nice color shirt.

Nice, okay. That's good to know. Okay, so it also says don't give money and all that. It's like no gifts or whatever.

But is that a real thing? Because people say no gifts and then I show up empty hand, everyone's got cards and then I don't. And it's like, what are we doing? No gifts.

You're not giving gifts? Yeah. Mike? Well, I was gonna go buy Max, you know.

If Max isn't, then you know, I'll do what the invite said, then it said no gifts. Yeah, I don't think he wants to. I want to stick to it. If you guys stick to it, I'll stick to it.

But if somebody's gonna break protocol, I'll break. Yeah, no, no. Yeah. I think if you give things something nice to do for them, that kind of like that idea.

It's like, you know, you have to say to yourself, you're not gonna give them money. But one day I'm gonna do something really nice for them. I'm gonna get them tickets to something really. Oh, it's like a book where it's like one free massage.

Yeah, and then you forget. Yeah, he never do. He never do. I know it's my gift to my dad every year for when I was a kid for his like, like, head rubs.

He wanted head rubs. He didn't back scratches. Yeah, yeah. And I just give me that.

He's just a month's worth of head rubs. He loves getting his head rub. Like, watch TV. He tried to and then we'd forget about it.

I remember my favorite thing, by the way. Did you make your children rub your head? Do you make your children rub your head? I used to make my step on rub.

My head constantly. Every time I was watching TV, she was very good. And then Alex, when we were on our like early date, I'm like, by the way, I love head rubs. And she pretended she loved giving head rubs.

Turns out she hates giving head rubs. She's the worst back scratcher. It sucks. But no, I, my kids, my kids like back tickles.

They don't, they don't like me back taking them. And then they won't, they won't massage me now. So I was like watching TV with them or something. Just rub my head.

They're like, it's got to be part of the crossover. You know what, I school with all the prongs? Yeah, yeah, that's cool. You can use it on yourself though.

You know, you walk by the mall, like I will do it on your head. You buy it and you think it's going to feel good. Yeah. You know, it doesn't, you need like someone else to do that.

But that's good idea. You know, everything about cuddling with your friends. Sometimes I wish I could just cuddle with my, I used to cuddle with like Greg and Rob. Like sometimes we were younger like 20.

We would just go to my mom's place where I was living at the time. And in my room, I had this big bed. And we'd all just get under the covers like cuddling Chad. So this is great.

See, I think sometimes I think about certain friends. I think virtual and Civelli and even Dan, I think about those three guys cuddling with those three guys. They're very comforting people. Do you know what I mean?

I think I'd love virtual to hold me. Yeah, I know about that. I'd be worried if virtual has hands on me or something. I'd be like, what's going on?

What does he want here? I don't know. What's the angle? I think Civelli would be a very good, good color.

Civelli who's getting married, I think Dan would be good too. Dan's giving me some good like big hugs when I've been upset. Dan would be good. I could cuddle with him.

I think Dan's like 6'3", and big. I think we should all realize that. He's like a gentle giant. And emotion.

He's a gentle giant. Yeah. Yeah. I think I'd like to explore that a little bit more.

It's men. Cuddle. Yeah, for sure. I got to an age where I thought it was going to be too weird if I continued it.

So maybe you, Robin, Greg, pick it back up where you left off 20 years ago. Yeah, for number two's. You know, you can kind of introduce. I wonder if I could be like a thing that's men who have aged, like just like a group of like 65-year-old men who get together and cuddle, like maybe it becomes like some sort of like comforting support group or something.

Yeah. I like putting my arm around friends too. You know, when we're walking down the street and stuff, I really like that touch, you know. You keep it there though for like what?

I keep it there for pretty long. Yeah, I'd say like a full block. Sometimes I'll be walking around. I know I can tell the friends that don't want to me to touch them.

But there's other ones I think are quite receptive to it. I like to touch each other all the time too. Yeah. Men hold hands in India.

They hold their pinkies. They walk around like the most common thing. Just pinkies. Yeah.

Jesse Leparsky's an injury now. So that's the common thing. Do you think we do wish we had more like kissing European style? Just like, would you want to, you know, like man.

I'd find that too awkward. It's like getting into a three-phase handshake on crack. I can't do it. Because I'll always get the wrong, wrong cheek.

I would accidentally do a lip kiss. It was really stress now. How many cultures do men kiss on the lips? Like just as a greeting?

I wonder if they do that. I don't know. They do it some places. Did you ever kiss your dad on the lips?

I think, I think maybe very early on. Yeah. I guess my mom, but not a long time. You know what the cutest thing is ever.

By the way, the cutest thing is ever you can witness. I talk with him all the time. Is when you see a boy walking with his dad who's a little too old to be holding his dad's hand, but he's still doing it. And they're so comfortable.

That's the cutest thing on planet Earth. Like an 11-year-old boy walking down the street holding their dad's hand. I love that. There's a little kid who doesn't want to have a kid.

A boy. Just so I can hold his hand. Just talk to a 11-year-old son. Weird.

We're a reparant silhouette everywhere you go. There's an old SNL sketch with Fred Armisen and Bill Hader. It's like a guy brings his girlfriend home to meet the family, but the whole family kisses on the lips for everything. It's kind of a bit.

So then she's kind of like what is going on? And it's all these adults just that's how they... Oh, kiss on the milk kiss on the milk. That's pretty funny sketch.

Aye. Hug, your father-in-law. Me? Oh, yeah, I guess Max doesn't have a father-in-law.

Yeah, yeah. When we leave, like we'll go over there to his place for dinner and stuff. And when we say bye, I give him a big hug. You give him a hug.

I do, yeah. Not that I know him very well, but he seems kind of intimidating. He doesn't seem like a hug guy. Yeah, but he's also like a...

He's a family man. Like he loves his family. When everyone goes to his place for dinner and we're all sort of saying bye and getting into our cars and like, you know, we love the grandkids. We're all saying bye.

Just give him a nice hug. Can you go? He's a hard hand shaker. I think I should have his hand on him.

Like crush him. My pinky. Two. Oh, good question.

Not like I love you. Not like I love you. Have I ever said I love you? No, I don't think so.

Say now, say now the pod. Say now. I love Owen. He's great.

He's honestly. I love you Owen. He's a great guy, great father-in-law. I lucked out in the old father-in-law lottery, but I don't think I've ever said I love you that directly to him.

Yeah, I just don't think so. What about you? Did John the Parsi have you said it? Yep.

I think last night. You're on vacation with him right now. I wouldn't say hammer, but white claws were consumed. I also called him dad.

I don't like that. You don't have dad? Oh, that's like an antiquated thing. That's like my mom used to call my Omar.

Like they would say that. You know, and I we've never yeah. No, but only I only called dad after and I love you. I don't call him dad casually.

I'm not like dad. Like I'm not calling him. Dad, Alex is teasing me. Yeah.

Alex is teasing me. So okay, wait a minute. So you tell him you love him and you hug him. He's a very huggable guy.

I love John. Yeah, he makes fun of my hugs because he says that's enough. That's just like very weak. Yeah, you're kind of an awkward hugger though now that I think of it.

Chain. So why would hug you? Yeah, I do that still. Just on rant.

Okay, here's a question. Have you ever guys, because I felt this because I want to say a few of my ex-girlfriends have had dads that have great bodies like just they're just like in shape. There's like in shape, six year old dudes. Have you guys ever been insecure about your own body in relation to your father in law's body or your girlfriend's dad's body?

I think that sometimes where I'm like, oh man, this like six year old man is just like kind of ripped and like you're like, you know what I mean? Yeah, yeah. Like, do that? I would say I feel insecure about my body in any situation.

Like if I'm ever shirtless, like just because I, you know when you're like your teenager's like when you're supposed to be like, you don't even try and you're like the torso looks decent? I never even had that phase. So like I always like when all my buds were ripping off their shirts and that this is where the beach shirts raining and whatever. I was always like, I never felt like, you know, it would be like, like your friends just take their shirts off of this way.

It was the air of the Backstreet Boys. You know, you basically felt like a music video, but I would always be kind of like, yeah, I was never like, all right, tarp's off fellas. Like I'd always be like, I don't know. I'd always be like, I don't know.

I'd be nice if I didn't. I look better. I'd rather just keep the shirt on. Shane, I'll let you answer.

How do you feel in relation to John's bod? Sometimes good, sometimes not good. John also is very aware of my bod. So he will.

He means exactly what I said. He'll check it out and he'll be like, oh, looking good, or he'll be like, oh, someone's not in ball shape. You know, it's something. You still don't get to shape her balls.

Just like, so I'm aware of my bod around John because he's checking it out. He's monitoring. Do you ever worry about how you compared to Jake? Because Jake's got a pretty good bod.

Alex's brother. Well, Jake's body's just pretty good. It is. It's like embarrassingly good.

I would be if I had Jake's bod, I would almost be embarrassed because I'd be looking at so much. There was two days in my life, my entire life where I had abs. And I took my shirt off and it felt like I didn't know how to walk anymore. I felt like I was showing off or something.

I could not get comfortable at all. I like being in the perfect amount of shape where it looks like you're not out of shape, but you're not trying to be so. It's a delicate balance and I've never really thought. You keep hearing podcast ads like this one, for example, like this one.

I'm like, I'm like, I'm like, I'm like, I'm like, I'm like, I'm like, I'm like, I'm like, I'm like, you know, pretty nice. Bods are Olympic athletes. Nice. Olympic athletes.

And Max, you and our Cals were in Paris for the Olympics. I know it's best to be a quick pod because again, you're an I.O.I. You've got stuff to do. Why don't you give the listeners a little inside juice?

Shane always has great questions. Like, give us like, peel back the curtain. Let us know what goes down at the Olympics. A lot of our listeners probably follow us on Instagram.

So I don't want to like read red stuff. So maybe it's more fun if you guys just ask me questions, but I will. We had a great time. We played two shows.

We got to see track and field swimming and Canada lose to France in the basketball game and that obviously sucks, but the atmosphere there was like nothing else. But you know what's interesting is that there's some of the beings like the swimmers have like crazy bods, but there's other ones that just like, you know, breakdancing and stuff. And I guess my question before you ask me questions is Ray Gunn the Australian breakdancing is she bad? Because I think a lot of breakdancing looks kind of ridiculous to me.

Like I don't when people are like, oh, she's the worst answer ever or she's like, con the Australian government. You didn't see what's the difference? See, maybe I wasn't looking at the good ones. Maybe I should never look to the good ones, but I just saw her and I was like, it's pretty good to me.

She's doing some cool moves. I was a wedding. I would be like, wow, that woman can dance. She's got confidence.

I'm impressed by this woman. But you have to do a head spin, at least do a head spin for a few rotations and that kind of I'm using my hands on a podcast, but I don't know what it's called. Windmill, windmill type of thing. You have to do that for rotations or me to be like, I cannot do that.

If you're not doing a kick flip, what are you doing? I'm not impressed by that. I also think that there's just something that even like amateurs or nobody can sort of sense and when they're watching something like this, which is essentially like, okay, like gymnastics, let's say it's like there's artistry to gymnastics, right? But if you go and watch just like, you know, the kids at your local gym, you're like, oh, they're doing gymnastics and it's possible.

But then you watch the sort of the people at the Olympics, you're like, oh, fuck, that's like a whole other level. I think what happens like you watch the ray gun do her thing and you're just like, Shane said, I'm like, oh, that was a wedding. We'd all be like clapping along. Everyone lose their mind.

She'd be the sort of hit at night. But then when you watch other like break dancers from around the world actually apply their, the artistry of what they're doing. You go, oh, like look at the way their body control, the way they're holding their arms, like look at the angles, the things that they're doing, the way that they move. And she literally just, you know, we saw all the stuff on the internet.

People like my dog in the mud right after I give my bath. My kid comes into the, by bedroom and says, can I sleep? Do I'm scared? And then they do this for the next five hours.

Like it's, it's honestly truly does look like this weird freestyle, improv. It's just, when you saw the other ones, you go, oh, that sort of artistry at like a really high level. And this is a woman that's just sort of like fucking around. He might be in legal trouble though, either investigating how she even got into the Olympics right now.

Yeah. Like husband was on like the committee and she denied some kids that might have been better than her. She just started, you know, she got a free trip to Paris, you know, it is what it is. But Max, it seems like you appreciated her artistry.

I liked it. And I like a con. I like a lot con. Yeah.

Yeah. There's something to it. There's something to it. Um, okay, questions for you about.

He had a question. So you play cool. So cool. Sorry, go on, Mike, you first know, I like where you're going with this.

Who's the coolest athlete you met? Good question. We met Ethan Kattsberg, the gold medal disc thorough Ham momentum hammer, hammer, hammer, hammer. And yeah, he was shell.

He was cool. I liked him a lot. Older people liked him a lot. For some reason he resonated with people like 50 plus I feel like and get my dad just texting me out of the book.

Yeah, right. I think it's probably because he looked like a guy who would have been friends with my dad in the 60s. That's probably why. Because he would cross me, but like in shape.

Yeah. Yeah, he looked like a 60s artist or like a folk singer. So I think you're totally right. That's why he resonated because he just kind of looked like them.

We, yeah, we met Josh Leindau, we hung with Penny, Alessia, decorated swimmer. And I think the ones that stand out to me. You were in Canada House. That's where you did your shows, right?

Yeah. Do athletes drink beer? Do they enjoy themselves in that place? Or are they mostly keeping it sort of like?

No, I mean, I think once they're done their events, it's like, this is the thing about being an Olympian. And I guess it's specific events, but if you're a swimmer, like you have to have no life. Like you really, you're training like 45 weeks a year, and you're in the pool 11 times a week. And if you're like, no, I'm only gonna do 30 weeks a year.

And I mean, the pool's six days a week. You won't win. Like the amount of discipline required for a lot of these events seems crazy. So I hope they party really hard when they're done their event.

But it is also funny that there's some Olympians that like could probably have a beer every night. Does Ethan, because you have to like do that stuff? One other thing that happened in Paris, that was of note is you met a singer in a bar and it seems like a viral French singer. You know, it's a good clip.

You're sitting there, you find the key on the piano and you play nice and she lets it rip. And then you came back to the country and suddenly the CBC is doing stories on it. Did you anticipate that amount of interest when you posted that clip? Yeah, those are the kinds of things that seem to do well on the internet.

It feels like, you know, we're all like, you know, anybody who has like a social media account is just like hoping to stumble into stuff like that like every day. And it rarely happens, right? But basically we were sitting on the patio and our friend Riley was with us. He came back and he's like, the server in there has the craziest voice.

Like go in there, just listen to her sing. I was like, what do you mean? She's just cleaning up and singing. It was like an empty restaurant and it was probably one in the morning at this point.

And then I went in there, I looked for the bathroom and then she was singing and there happened to be a piano there. So then I was like, yeah, let's do something. And then, you know, phones were out and immediately magic was made. But yeah, it's funny how, like we had one of those and then the next few days later, we were in Newfoundland and there's a wedding happening at our hotel and the bride and groom are big ourselves fans.

So I showed up to that. So I'm hoping something and I will happens today that I can just like walk into that will be cool. You know what I mean? Like, yeah, I don't know.

It was a magical moment, but I did probably in the back of my mind think, oh, people might like this, but she was a great singer obviously. I don't even want to say, because I don't want to, but I'm skeptical of any, you kind of remind me of that Australian breakdance or sometimes. Or orchestrating something here. It's, you know, but I also don't mind, I don't want to punk.

I know I'm ruining it in case I'm correct. So I kind of, I am, I'm too, I mean, I could have coordinated it. It was literally one of the morning after our last show, we were flying home the next morning. And so, but like, did we film it?

Yeah, we filmed it. But like, did we should great it. Here's the thing, finding the key of the song. Now, I think for the music heads there, me having to kind of go up the scale to find it, which was our totally real moment.

She was just, cause she gave me an instruction. I'm just going to start singing, you follow me. Like I'm not that kind of musician. I'm not that good, but I could find the key quickly.

And then follow her and then kind of turn out good. But yeah, I don't know. But it makes me think though, we should do that more often. Do you think there's a lot of like influencers and YouTube people and Tiktokers that are just like, making these moments happen?

Like that are just like totally, you know, looks like it's watching. Basically 80%. So should we do that more often with our girls, just be like set plants in our daily life. And then, yeah, like, you know, someone's got a sign.

It's like, oh, my kids here from wherever, and you're like, all right, we got a sign in the crowd. And then you look and you're like, I don't have a violin on you. Do you do you little boys? I got you getting my violin max and then it's on stage and you know, going crazy.

And then on the CBC with Tom Power, like, yes, this moment was incredibly, like, you know, everything's like that. It's possible, if you're a popular YouTuber, Tiktoker, you can't create these moments organically if you want to keep them coming. Yeah, okay, let's start making more of them. We'll make more of them fair, fair play.

Guys, I feel like there's some other big pop culture stuff that's happened. It's a slightly movie and that's a whole PR thing. Have you been following this thing with the director and the star? Been following that?

Yeah, what are some of the big stories? That's happening. We saw Chris Martin and Dakota Fanning are listening to me and Johnson. They broke up.

I loved that. I loved that. I loved Chris Martin. Yeah, what did I ask him to check her?

Do you think Chris Martin listens to fix you to comfort himself in time like this? It's a funny question. I was picturing him, it always reminds me that Stephen Siegel, sorry about him. Someone goes into the trailer and he's reading a script and crying and someone says, what is that?

He goes to the greatest script I ever read. And he goes, he wrote it and he goes, me. I did. I did.

That's what I did. Yeah, there's lots going on. We can talk about the Blake Lillie thing. It feels like everyone's turning on her.

There's a finish. What did she do? She's got this movie called It Ends With Us and it's based on this novel that it's sort of like it's domestic violence and it's sort of journey that she goes through with this guy she meets and then whatever. But so this guy optioned it just in whatever.

What is it, Baldi? I can't even tell you. Who gives a fuck? She directed it and she came in and she stars in it.

And so they're the two leads. But ever since the movie started going into the press cycle, they don't do press together. they don't do photos together. I'm going to cast it on the following Instagram.

It's this whole fucking thing. Apparently, so she commissioned the Deadpool Wolverine editor to come in and do a new cut of the movie. Sort of like took it out from under him. So there's this kind of fascinating factions thing where people are like, hey, she's the star of the movie.

She's a producer on the movie. She's taking charge of the project. And so people are like, if that was a man doing that, that would be totally fine. They're basically just turning on the way that they turn on and halfway and all these other people.

And then there's other people that are like, hey, it's like he directed it. He had a vision. It's actually she's kind of like, even when she's a producer on it, that's kind of overstepping to bring somebody else to actually re-edit his film. Anyway, it's like, so people are picking sides.

But in the midst of that kind of thing about the movie, which apparently has already made $100 million on a $25 million budget, so it's a hit. It has. Yeah. So on top of all that though, what happened is now, this woman, this other interview came out from 2016, I think it was like a finished journalist or something.

I can't remember where she's from, but you can look it up. And she's like, this is the interview that made me want to quit doing my job. She's like a classic entertainment journalist. It's like entertainment tonight, whatever, one of those extra type things.

And so she sits down off the top of the interview, Blake Lively is like, I guess pregnant. She's like, oh, just first of all, congrats on the baby bump. And then Blake immediately is like, congratulations on your bump. And then her and Parker Posey sort of spend the next five minutes kind of like mean girl in the interview for Asuna question and like getting too familiar with celebrities and everything, so celebrities.

And then it's like, ask a question about the wardrobe and they're promoting Woody Allen movie on top of that after all the allegations. So it's this interview alone seems to have been the most damning sort of piece and everybody saying Blake Lively is a mean girl. And so that's where it's at right now. We're sort of in the midst.

I'm sure when this podcast comes out in two months, this will be an old story. But that's a joke for all you listeners. I know we've been super frequent, but we're busy. It'll be a bunch of comments soon.

I swear, I said every week. But anyway, that's what's going on right now with Blake Lively. And I all I kept thinking when I was sort of catching up on this in the last week is I wonder what Ryan Reynolds, oh, people else at Ryan Reynolds came in and like rewrote a scene that she sort of, she talked about all this in the press and up to it, but now it looks a little bit more not nefarious, but like I guess, damning if you think that her and Ryan basically budded in and took this movie away from Justin. Oh, one other thing is because it is a domestic violence sort of like fiend and sort of heavy thing.

Blake doesn't spend any time, I guess, in all of the press in the last couple of weeks addressing that. She's like selling her products and sort of doing a very normal movie junk, keeping things light. And people are like, she's not even addressing sort of why this movie is important or might be triggering and all that stuff. So that's the case.

I like you guys judge for yourself. The only thing I thought was funny was she's trying to like eventize going to the movies because that's what every movie has to do. And often like dressing up to the movies is the way to do it. I guess she plays like a florist or something.

And she's like, where are you florals to the movie? Get your friends where you florals. Yeah, but it's about domestic abuse. Yes.

So there's a bit of a disconnect there. But we're all trying to smooth some tickets. So I get it. Carol five in Iowa.

Yeah. So the other jets setting every other day. That's true. That's true.

Yeah. So the movie's done well. But and there is a sequel. The book has a sequel.

So the questions will do get to be in the sequel. And they asked them at one point, they're like, oh, we direct the sequel. He's like, I think Blake's ready to direct the sequel, which was either like an earnest sort of like hat tip or like a somewhat sarcastic like she's already taken over once later just to the next one. But that's what the internet is about when it comes to them.

I don't really carry the way. But it is fascinating. Yeah. I always thought that well, Dini, you guys, like a motivational speaker for like man or something.

I know what he was. Well, really in the pandemic, he was coming up in my feet constantly. I got a question. Do you got five more minutes here, Max?

You got to go. Yeah, I was trying to find out. I was cleaning out a thing. I was getting some shit going.

I had to clean my room for a reason, like our my side table by my bed. And I found a thing about a year ago, a friend of mine, one of my best friends growing up was getting Lee passed away. And I found like a little thing that they had a celebration of life. So I kind of read it.

I was like, oh, that's fascinating. Can't believe it's been just over a year, whatever. I ended up having to pop into Walmart to get batteries today for this fucking H6, which listens will be happening. We have batteries and I ran out two episodes ago.

And I popped into the section because I was like, oh, I don't think I need like cheap flannels like a farmer on the house and I saw these jeans and just leave. There's like Lee jeans. So they had this huge sort of like fucking advertising. They just said, Leah's like, wow, that's so interesting.

I found the thing and then I go to Walmart, which, you know, and then I was driving around the corner and this other friend of ours that we grew up with, we do film stuff all the time, the three of us are really kind of like a little like triangle of sort of like friendship and making skits on the stuff. A friend of coal. I saw her literally at the park. Her mom was close.

And so she was with like her nieces and nephews, but I never, ever, ever, ever see her. Like literally I've not seen her in person in maybe like two years. And so I was just like, this is so bizarre that it's like I found that thing randomly in the bottom of a drawer, like his thing from the funeral. I see the jeans like advertisement in Walmart, which I wouldn't even have gone into any batteries.

And then I saw Nicole. I was like, and this all happened in the last like, I don't know, 20 hours. So it reminded me of this book I read when I was a little uncle, maybe I was like a teenager called The Celestine Prophecy, which is that nothing happens by coincidence. If you're thinking about somebody from your past and suddenly like you run into them, it's like that means something.

I have some sort of information to give you and it's sort of causing tapestry universe. My question for you too is, do you believe there is a tapestry and maybe the universe trying to tell you something or is this just random coincidence? That's a good question. Tapestry, great word, Mike, by the way.

I'm less sentimental, I think. So I don't totally buy that. That, you know, it's just you might be noticing things more, but I feel like things are a lot more random. I think people are too superstitious.

I think it's generally mine. And I think like being superstitious kind of leads to disappointment often or leads your mind to go down stupid paths that are like often like not helpful. So yeah, because the amount of times people start talking about like, you know, the stupidest shit is is like, your sign, I think we probably talked about this before. Like astrology, astrology stuff, I was like, stop it, just stop it.

Anything kind of in that domain, I don't really have too much interest in. What do you, what do you, Shane? I'm kind of like you, Max, but at the same time I feel like anything you're thinking of, it kind of comes to you in a way. I don't know why, but I find when I'm thinking of something, it always happens.

My only pushback on that is that we all have like a thousand of those thoughts every day, and then nothing usually happens, and then you just forget about the thoughts. So I think that there's like so much just like, you remember the times it worked, but no one ever wants to talk about or even remember the times where you had a thought, and then just nothing happened, then you carried out with your day. It's always happened. It's always happened.

It's always happened. I'm with you, though, Max. I think it's the S in a way, but somehow the power of thought, I believe in that at the same time, but I don't think it's spiritual. I think it's a different type of magnetism of some sort.

I can't guarantee something. Well, there's that, it's the idea that people are like a manifest. I'm going to manifest my destiny, but it's just the act, like, it's like, it's like manifesting isn't just, I'm going to think positively and it's going to happen. Most people that are going to try to manifest and it happens.

There's like 10 other steps that they end up doing while they're doing. If you have a green Jeep, for instance, you'll start noticing green Jeeps everywhere because you're kind of more cognizant of them or as before your brain will cancel it out. So if you have Lee on the brain, you're around a place you probably see Lee all the time, but then Lee stands out because Lee's on the brain. I agree.

I'm seeing the person as if he could be a miracle. I don't, I don't think, I don't notice the jeans if I hadn't seen that little thing from celebration of life in the morning. Do you know what I'm saying? Like, I agree.
