East Potomac Golf Links Under Fire | US News

Feds clear 150 trees at East Potomac Golf Links, calling it routine maintenance—but the move has ignited a fierce debate over a proposed course redesign. Critics say proper environmental and historic impact reviews were skipped, even filing a lawsuit to halt the project. A judge let the tree removal continue but imposed conditions, including advance notice for future work. While renovations were rumored for early September, legal hurdles delay any firm timeline. Both sides are gearing up: activists plan to update their case, while the government seeks to dismiss it entirely—leaving the golf course’s future hanging in the balance.
