Easter Day
from Between Bread and Stone · host Stephen R. Brewer, PsyD
Easter Day begins in John’s Gospel with darkness, grief, and an open tomb. Mary Magdalene arrives before understanding catches up, and the resurrection breaks into the world as disruption rather than slogan. This episode reflects on Easter as the Creator’s vindication of Truth and Reality, Jesus as Love undestroyed, and the Spirit as Peace stronger than domination. From there, the reflection turns toward Paul, myth, and history. Paul preserved the Christ movement by giving it symbolic and cosmic durability, but the practical grammar for resisting empire remained less fully developed. This episode explores satyagraha, truth-force or soul-force, as the likely historical answer Paul was reaching toward, and asks whether the return of Christ may be realized through the large-scale embodiment of truthful love in history.
