Eastern Cape Health Department to act against striking emergency workers

from AM Live on SAfm · host SABC News and Current Affairs

SAfm — EMS EC: The Eastern Cape Health Department says it will be taking disciplinary action against the emergency services workers who embarked on an illegal strike since Monday. The workers were protesting over unpaid overtime due to some of them from as far back as 2003. An agreement was reached yesterday, to pay some of the money and to refer other cases to for mediation. Sakina Kamwendo spoke to the department’s Lwandile Sicwetsha, who says not taking action against the workers will set a bad precedence.
