TRANSCRIPT · AUTO-GENERATED

I'm Dan. What has been out, man? Hey, just hang out buddy. Hey, you see my little pen up.

You all right? Yeah, man. It's been a couple weeks since we recorded. Yeah, it's always a couple weeks since we recorded.

It's cool, man. Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, anything fun? Over the past couple weeks? I have a whole bunch of stuff I completely forgot about.

Yeah, well, good. Maybe we'll have something to talk about. Hey, speaking of living forever, I found out about a really cool service that won't affect me, might affect you, because you've got a couple of pretty wicked tattoos, or maybe just one. You just have one?

I have three. You have three. Okay, get this. Two of them, I don't like.

Get this. Savemyinkforever.com. This is not a sponsor. We don't have sponsors.

Did you get a sponsor? No, no, did not. Hey, speaking of, I know some people with their own businesses. You know, it's a good sponsor.

It's just saying we'd totally say your name, but I'm not going to. Not for free. Yeah, not for free. Savemyinkforever is a tattoo removal and preservation service.

I'm sorry, so they like cut a chunk of your skin out? Yeah. No. Why?

It's weird. It's weird. Don't get me wrong. I think it's weird too.

But I get it. Having gone to the website and seeing how it's presented, it does look pretty cool. It's fucking wrong. It's fucked up.

They cut your skin off and they preserve it and they flatten it between the glass, but it looks like a fucking museum exhibit. Yeah, but then you have a huge scar from where they took a chunk of your skin off. No, they do this when you're dead. Oh, I thought you meant like, as you're alive, if you want to remove your tattoo, we'll just take a chunk of it.

That's what I was like. I'm not going to get a tattoo removed. I skimmed over that part maybe. Yeah, you kind of did.

That would be kind of cool, but not really. I mean, all mine are just straight from a book. You don't have a lot of loser tattooed on my back, right? Yeah, that was a little tongue and cheek.

Yeah. I keep hearing about the wrecking balm or whatever. What's that? It's supposed to be like a lotion you put on there and it fades a tattoo quicker.

Wow. I thought about trying it, but then I just I don't, it's like $60 for a little bottle of it. I'm just like wrecking balm. Wrecking balm.

I like the name. Yeah, it's a good name. Anyways, man, Avengers. Yeah.

Can we get this out of the way? Okay. Spoilers coming up and 5, 4, 3, 2, 1. Fat Thor was the best thing in the movie, right?

He's totally the best. Yeah. I love Fat Thor. Does it not remind you of like everyone you knew in, you know, high school or college, like hanging out playing video games when it's like, yeah, it's over at Thor's house and like, what's his name?

The Rock guy and me, you're just like chilling on the couch. It's fucking awesome. He's like, I can order some pizza. We got some more beer around here somewhere.

Yeah. It is hilarious. I thought the little town that they put together for New Asgard was kind of cool. Yeah.

I am interested to see where it's going to go from here. I mean, obviously the Infinity saga is finished now. Right. So like, what do they do next?

Scroll? Secret Wars? I think that'd be great. Well, they kind of already did the scrolls with, they introduced them.

But they haven't started the Secret Wars where the scroll are hidden amongst all of Trudy. I heard that they were going to work on the Eternals. Yeah. Which, but that would be its own thing, wouldn't it?

Yeah. I mean, it's still cosmic, but. Oh, I would love a cosmic ghost rider. Have you seen any of the cosmic ghost rider like cosmic ghost rider raises baby Thanos?

No. Yeah. I mean, I didn't know if maybe Thanos tried to raise him like proper, but he's a ghost rider. So he's constantly killing people and making things way worse.

Hi, Jinks in Sue. Yes. That's awesome. Actually, I heard that Hula was working on a dedicated like ghost rider animated series.

A halo is what I'm wondering because Disney's coming out with their own service and Disney owns all of it. I don't know. Maybe they gave the rights to somebody. I would enjoy it.

I assume they're owned by Nicholas Cage right now. I love the ghost rider like his whole thing. And I think Nicholas Cage is Nicholas Cage. So he can't go wrong with that.

If he does the voice for it, I don't know anything with that. I think they're going to go back with Robbie. Did you see any of the episodes of Agents of Shield with? No.

I haven't watched any of Agents of Shield. I haven't watched a lot of it because I didn't care for it. Yeah. Just weird.

In general, you remind me a lot of the CW shows, which are supposed to be really good. The DC one. Yeah, they're supposed to be. Well, now the DC has their own service, streaming service.

Supposedly, the new DC stuff is like top notch awesome, like super dark, really good. Maybe I'm maybe I'm going to lose listeners here, but I didn't care for Daredevil. This show's kind of sucked. Oh, Daredevil was good.

I mean, everyone loved Buffy, which is technically a comic book. Yeah. Um, a small bill was of pew shit. I never watched any of it.

I didn't either. It all felt like a super proper to me. Yeah. Yeah.

Well, just just I don't know. They all just felt like it was just kind of between drama. Well, they focus less on the superpowers and more on the relationships. Yeah, that's dumb because they want to attract teenagers, which are all kissy kissy kissy for the girls and the boys are like, Oh, wait, but he's Superman.

Hmm. Thanks for breaking it down for me. Yeah, no problem. That's how that shit works.

I would like a no be a good series. Um, I got to do they have anything? I don't know for DC, like suicides. Well, I think that'd be a good series, but do they have anything like for Marvel?

Like, Oh, yeah. Um, since they're six. Yeah, that'd be a good show or just a dark rain. Yeah, the whole the whole dark rain saga where like, you know, the villains sort of take over.

That'd be pretty dope. Or if they did like a one shot type series, um, because there's a new, the new series out in the comics right now, or basically Gamora got the gauntlet and basically written the universal part. Oh, that was going on right now. So it's like Captain America, but his name is Steven Strange.

So he got the super sold out. He also has a shield, but it's a magic shield. So they could do one offs and every week is a different random mix. Totally fucked over the universe.

Yeah, but they do that. Once while and then they bring it back. Wasn't that one? It wasn't that.

Was like the new February, honestly. Was like the new 52. Yeah, I was not going to do it. It's basically individual universes that can operate.

It's just like the spider verse, right? Like each one of these is its own separate. Interesting. I understand.

But this is the first time they really fucked with the main 66. I like some of the combos they've done though, because they did like a Iraq night. The Spiderman mix with moon knight. No, that's cool.

You know, Dr. Strange mixed with Captain America. No, I like that. Yeah, I mean, it's good combos.

Or like the Ghost Rider Death Race. Have you seen that already? No. So a lot of what happened during the new Secret Wars or whatever those were called.

Were they totally fucked up Marvel it here a couple years ago? Which is a good reason why when people can like online complain about shit like Fat Thor or Genius Hulk or whatever the fuck they didn't like about the movies. Fuck off. Okay, it's a movie.

If you read comics or if you have the comics. Well, even the movies don't follow the comics. It doesn't matter. The comics don't follow the comics is what I'm saying.

Well, yeah, like you have to be if you're a fan, you have to be accustomed to the fact that they changed the story all the time. Well, and that's why it's not called like Marvel movies as Marvel Cinematic Universe. It's own separate universe. It's own thing.

It is. It has similarities to the other. I mean, the word still the God of Lightning and the law. Oh, yeah.

Robert Downey Jr. made Iron Man cool. I mean, I think we can all agree on that. No, like Iron Man.

He was a fucking beat character. I don't care who you are. You're full of shit. Iron Man was as badass as he was before RDJ because he was not.

I liked Iron Man. What's the number one Marvel character? Oh, Iron Man for sure. No, no, before the Cinematic Universe.

Wolverine. Yeah. X-Men were what was what? And then arguably for a while was probably Deadpool.

Or in simultaneously with Wolverine maybe even before it would be Spider-Man. Yeah. Wolverine, Spider-Man, Wolverine, Deadpool. Easily Iron Man at this point.

Yeah. I mean, it's maybe Thor. And fuck Thor was a beat character for a while. So was Captain?

No, obviously Big Up and Coming Now Black Panther as well. The Marvel. Let's be real. Be book for a long time.

I have some. They were second fiddle to the X-Men forever. Do you remember West Coast Avengers? The video game?

The big arcade video? Oh, yeah. With Hawkeye and Silver Surfer. I loved that game.

Yeah. And then there's like shitty sleds that you'd fly around on and like pew pew pew pew. Yeah, and the same thing with the X-Men game. I used to love those four-person controller games.

The Simpsons, the X-Men one. West Coast Avengers had one. Dude. What was that?

Well, before the laughing was Colossus' superpower in the X-Men arcade game. Oh, what's that? Yeah, I had that as a techno for a long time. You still have it on my phone.

No. You really know. He's just like shouting while he's full of energy. And he's just blinking red now.

Because he's already metal. But then he starts blinking red. Makes sense though, because I imagine like your your turn all over and turning in a metal wouldn't feel great. Like what I assume to be some sort of flexible metal under your skin pushing its way out on top so that it armors you like Batman's car in 1991.

Well, he's already metal though. He's not already metal. No, he's not metal all the time. What's not supposed to be?

One of the games in the movies he always is. Yeah, because that's how he's tough. Anyway, speaking of the point is everybody needs to like me. And just enjoy the character.

Just what was this? If you don't like it, cool. There's a movie you don't like. Yeah, I mean let's you don't hear a vision about the Fantastic Four every day.

Right. They were horrible. I didn't even see the last one. No, and I really wanted that one to be good.

I did see the last one. They're making a silver one that had silver, silver, and silver. No, no, no. There was another one after that.

Otherwise. Yeah, with all new people. The Black Dude was the flame guy. Oh yeah, and I can't even watch that one.

Wow. Yeah, right. You saying the Black Dude was the flame guy? Was what kicked it off?

Kind of made me feel racist for not watching it just now? No, I just didn't watch it. I was like, I'm not going to watch another shitty Fantastic Four movie. I'm on board with that idea because they were terrible.

Yeah, the Silver Circle was the good one. It was because of Silver Shurfer. It wasn't. But I mean, we could probably do an entire episode on why the MCU is different.

Like, yeah, every time somebody wants to complain about anything that's in the movies. Look at MCU versus Fox. I'm like, okay. Okay.

Hang on. Let's wind it all back here. Because first of all, the shit with Thanos is called Thanos Quest. It wasn't even really part of Infinity Gauntlet or Infinity War.

No, that was the war over individual people owning the Infinity Stones. Yeah, Infinity War has very little to do with the Marvel, the MCU Infinity War. Because it's more like the story after Infinity Gauntlet. Infinity Gauntlet is closer to what's happening or what happened.

Anyway. So who owns Fantastic Four or did? So many of us are Fox. Fox.

Fox on Fantastic Four and X-Men. Yes. Okay. I knew they owned the X-Men.

I thought it was someone else owned Fantastic Four. Yeah, I don't remember. The rights. The movie's were not great.

They're okay. I mean, the one where Jean Grey turns evil. The first and second one weren't too bad. The one where Jean Grey turns evil was not great.

Oh, it's horrible. I own them all because, you know, I'm a fan. Because you're a fan. You still enjoy them.

Third one is not unwrapped. Yeah. Yeah. I have not opened that shit.

I mean, and in the origin story one, they've compared Deadpool so bad. Yeah. And it's just like, why would they do that? I don't know.

Dumb decisions, I guess. I don't know. But then they fixed it. They did.

With the last Deadpool one, he fixed everything. Oh, damn it. He fixed so many things. Anyways, that's probably enough about Avengers, right?

Yeah, I mean, it's just a dream. We could take a whole episode about it and that's what I want to avoid for sure. But yeah, last week I had the whole week into myself. Yeah, I bet go.

That's amazing, man. I thought I might have seen you at one point, but no. Well, I think I ended up. What do you do?

I do. I don't know. But you were all over the place. We were going to try to record.

No, we weren't going to try to record. We were going to try to meet up on Saturday at some point. Oh, yeah. I didn't get home till like 9 p.m.

or something. Oh, later than that, I think it was 10. But you had, I talked to you a different series today. I go to the wedding at my dad or not.

Dude, you had like seven things to do. Three events that you had planned on and then you ended up doing like seven different things. Yeah, it happens. Yeah, because you're brilliant.

You did buy some comic stuff. Yeah. It's been a long time since I walked into the comic store. Captain's comics.

Right. This is what you buy. The Infinity Warps. Infinity Warps.

Basically what I was just talking about where Gomorrah has the Infinity Gallant and Shred of the universe and everything's all mixed up. Is Jane still Thor? I didn't see her in anything. Oh.

That was another one. Now the Fantastic Two. So were you bugged it all by, I don't want to say things that were teased, but kind of things that were teased. For example, it's Stormbreaker, right?

Yeah. That's not Thor's weapon. Yeah. That's Baderay Bill's weapon.

Right? Yeah. And they even teased Baderay Bill. Did they?

Yeah. He's a statue outside of... Yeah, yeah, yeah. ...in Thor Ragnarok.

He's a statue on, what's his name? The Grand Master's Palace. Yeah. Yeah.

And then they did Stormbreaker and I'm like, hmm, maybe Baderay Bill's going to come up. Except for Universe. Well, I mean, who's supposed to defeat Thanos? Uh, yeah.

Adam Warlock. For sure. I'm not sure we're going to see him. Although, yeah.

I can't complain. At least we got the MCU version of Thor instead of fucking Eric Masterson. I don't know how much you remember about any of that shit, but like Thor Thor was not even Thor in the comics during this fight. It was some douchebag, he was a human named Eric Masterson who had been deemed worthy and had become Thor.

Yeah. He's a little bitch. Thor turned him into glass and shattered him with his hand. What?

Yeah. Like Thor in the... Thanos in the comics was so much more ruthless, dude. Yeah.

Like he did so much horrible shit. He created like, what was her name? Is like Thraxus or Thanik? Yeah.

And Axis or something like the Chick. He created like a female companion for himself. Yeah. Fuck, it was just as like brutal as he was.

Yeah, she ends up killing Spider-Man and somebody else like pretty brutally. Anyway, she dies because she can't breathe in space, but anyway. She dies because she can't breathe in space. Yeah, fuck her.

So, also, last week. Do you know any middle schoolers? Personally, no. No.

I mean, how old are you, Donner? She's 12. Okay, then that almost is one. What?

Middle schooler. She's a middle schooler. Okay, so I know one. Okay.

So I had to go to some performances she had. Right. And dude, she's a sports theater class. Right.

And these kids got to write their own plays like little miniature plays. Wow. Middle school kids are kind of fucked up. Really?

What happened? Tell me. Okay, so this first one was about bullying. Right.

So these kids are picking up this one kid and the kid gets up. He's like, I can't take this anymore. I'm leaving and leaves and then, you know, shows like the next day in their class and he's not there and the next day he's not there and then the teacher calls his dad like, hey, we haven't seen Billy. Wow.

It's like, oh, just let you know Billy killed himself. Holy shit. Dude, we're sitting there and as soon as the dad goes, Billy killed himself, someone in the crowd goes, oh my God. So loud and clear.

It was hilarious. Oh, that's awesome. And then the next one was like about this mom and daughter and the mom has another kid, but then like the daughter hates the kid. But then, you know, now they're brothers, now they're sisters, so they're getting better.

She gets older. Oh, no, she has cancer. She dies. Oh.

The other kid, when she's older, going to heaven to meet the mom and dad and mom and kid who dies. Are you serious? Yeah, it's really dark and really fucked up. Whoa.

Wow. When is the next one? Right. I want to go.

I was like, what is going on here? It's really messed up. Kids are dark. Yeah, super dark.

Yeah. Fuck. That was intense. I thought she'd definitely bring that up.

Yeah, you should definitely bring that up. So was it involved at all? Yeah, she was in the play with the kid who gets cancer. Really?

Yeah. I guess they're trying to keep it real, right? I guess so. But I mean, what was the point of the skits in the first place?

I guess for theater class, like for a grade, they had to work together and make a little play. Oh, okay. So were there like super lame ones also? There's only three.

It was those two and the other ones about people being on their phone. So yeah, that one was kind of lame. All the kids were on their phone and mom's like, go outside. I'm taking the phone and they come back in.

They're like, we don't need our phones because we like going outside. Yeah, that one's pretty dumb. Yeah, that one's pretty dumb. Yeah, that one's like suicide.

Everyone dies. Yeah, the one's with real hardship. That's what we want. Oh, man.

Oh, yeah. Thanks for that. What? More combat.

Oh, more combat. Are you ready for that? I feel like I was smack my bitch up. Do you know how songs work?

No, is it tempo tuning? I don't know. Oh, God. I think that was like a fucking dance song for the cheerleaders in my high school.

The Mortal Kombat song? Yeah, I could see that being whatever that. Yeah. It was like a dance hit.

It was a late 90s. It was a Mortal Kombat. No, it wasn't. Those are other movies that like they totally fucked up.

Yeah, they did. Oh, those are bad. The only thing they did right was getting what's his nuts. What's his name?

Christopher Lambert? Yeah, as Ray Highlander is Rayland. Yeah. Yeah.

But no, they could definitely redo those now and they'd be awesome. Which I always thought was kind of weird. Like, why the fuck is that Raiden Asian? Why?

Why? Because he knows martial arts. He should be Asian. That's a little racist.

Oh, yeah, good point. I don't know. It seemed like an Asian story to me. I mean, he has an Asian hat, let's be honest.

Yeah. He's that Asian sun hat. Yeah, but um. Oh, real quick, before we get into Mortal Kombat, did you hear about the three-hit, the three-eyed snake?

I did see a photo of that. Yeah. Yeah, in Australia. Yeah, supposedly it's like an operating fully functional third eye.

Well, it was. Yeah. Oh, is he? Yeah.

Why'd he die from? I don't know. I think they found his body after he was dead. Oh, but I mean, he didn't die because he had a third eye.

No. No, he just happened to be. Yeah, it's crazy looking. It's like literally on the top of his head.

Weird. Right? Yeah, that's what I'm saying. They like did, I guess, an autopsy?

How would you call it? What would you call that? I mean, if you operate on an after his dead, I think it's automatically an autopsy. Funn't I died?

Dissection? Or dissection. I guess that wouldn't be an autopsy. Is that because it's an animal?

It's dissecting an animal and then if the person's an autopsy? That's pretty insensitive, man. I mean, when are we going to start calling these animal dissections autopsies? Well, I mean, were they looking for a copy?

The only time you can dissect a person, which is you're not trying to learn anything, you're just taking them apart. These snakes are outraged. Anyway, same Patty D. Happy.

Anyway, yeah. Mortal Kombat. Yeah, man. Pretty dope.

Pretty dope. Yeah. Pretty deep, too, man. All those fighting games, they're so...

None of them play hard enough. Yeah, none of them play hard enough. Yeah, they make an injustice game as well. It's basically injustice, but with Mortal Kombat characters instead of DC characters.

Yeah. I mean, I also can't knock people from one arena to a next. Yeah, the transitions. I kind of miss those.

When I miss, there's no way to kill someone in the arena. Almost every Mortal Kombat game has had that. Yeah, where you knock them off the pit and they're like dumb slacks. Or dumb slacks.

Or dumb slacks into the acid pit or a bunch of different ones. Maybe they figure the brutalities and the fatalities are over the top enough. What's your favorite fatality you've seen so far? There's so many good ones.

I really like the balls. What's the balls again? He's like dragging them behind them. Oh yeah.

He's like dragging them on the ground. And then throws them and then turn around the other way and it's like an extra. Crazy. Yeah, he is.

I'm a fan of canoes where he breaks the beer bottle and then shoves it in somebody's neck. And then dances with them. And blood's pouring out of the beer bottle and he's dancing with them at the same time. Yeah, they're all good stuff.

There's a bunch of them that are really good. Ten-year-old Dan is very pleased with current Dan. Right? Yeah, even clearly it's for little kids.

I hopped into Kona next. I was a little bit too, which is pretty fun. I know you're not ready to get back into it. No, man.

I'm not doing it. I'm not saying that. I'm not saying that. I'm not going to say that.

Anyways. So what are we talking about this week, Dan? Chi. Chi Chi Chi.

Quai. Quai. Piranha. Piranha.

Yes, for them. Or chai, which blows my mind in terms of Starbucks. Chai tea? Chai.

Is Hebrew. For Chi. So all these words you just said basically mean life force energy, correct? Correct.

So that's what we're talking about. Yeah. I mean, it's a pretty big topic. It is.

I mean, I think we kind of broke it down into Chi and Kai. I think so. We had a hard time sort of breaking this one down into something digestible for a podcast, or at least I did. Well, Chi is more the Chinese side of it.

Kai is more the Japanese side. But they mean the same exact things, is what I want to get across. They're both life force energies within your body, within the earth, within everywhere. I think the Koreans actually call it G.E.

or GI. Also known as the force. Technically that's what it is. Oh yeah.

Speaking of. I'm going to pour Chewy. Get this one. I heard about that, right?

Oh, I did hear about Chewy. Rest in peace, Chewy. The guy who played Chewaka inside the suit just passed away this week. No, Quai got in gin.

If you look at his name, it's actually like Chi Gong, gin. So like Chi Gong is like, it's kind of like the. It's like life force, Jeannie. Yeah, pretty much.

Or like energy spirit. Yeah. Kind of depending on how you interpret it. But yeah, it's like a Chi Gong, which is the the the the Chi of movement.

And then gin is like a Jeannie or or spirit. I thought that was kind of cool. I never thought about that. I didn't need it.

Quai Gong for people don't remember is kind of like the lead Jedi from the first of the Shady Star Wars movies. Yeah, episode one. Yeah. He was he was Obi-Wan's master.

He was. Oh, speaking of, I think Obi-Wan has a couple of different interpretations. Also, the one is close to Sword Belt. Not as cool.

Obi-Wan. But it's also something about like Skywalker walks among the skies. No. All right.

We're not doing. We're not doing pockets on names. Wouldn't be a bad one. We could go back to the origins of our own names.

So I tried to find like the origin of Chi, like who the first to come up with it. It seems like it makes sense that it is related to China because it looks like China, but missing two letters. China. China.

China. Yeah. Nobody should listen to this. Anyway, has a lot to do with Taoism.

And it looks like Tao, if you're reading it. It's a very good day. Oh, Tao is how it's pronounced. And all the Tao of anything means is the natural way.

So if someone says the Tao of martial arts, the natural way of martial arts, whatever it is, the Tao of sexual healing. It's a book by Brendan Smith. Pick it up. Right on.

I have a look at Barnes and Noah. Seems to have come from roughly the fifth century China. So a long time ago from Chan Buddhism. All right.

All right. That seems to have influenced quite a few people's thinking on the way the natural life forces inside us work. And it has influenced a lot of martial arts, healing, the way of thinking through out a bunch of cultures. Basically the combination of my spirit and body.

Right. Get this. A central figure in this idea is the student named Bodi Dharma. Bodi?

Bodi Dharma. Right. Sounds like a white guy trying to be a surfer. Like just a what do you call him?

That's what's his name in the fucking point break. Wasn't it Bodi? I think it was. Awesome.

Yeah, it is. No, he's the one that supposedly was an Indian and came over to China and actually taught the Shaolin monks about Chi as well. So he brought it from somewhere else then? India.

Yeah. So India is the more... I would say so. Okay.

He said China earlier or maybe he said he thought it was China. I thought it was China. Yeah. Yeah.

Yeah. I could see it spreading from India to China. Yeah. Probably Japan last.

Shock or shit. Yeah. Yeah. So it's like a river where the Chi or Kai is the water in the river.

Right. The... Well, I guess the Meridian is the actual flow of the river and then a chakra would be like a pool or a whirlpool where a lot of the key or chai builds. Right.

Like a lot of people think that's like a gland in the body. Might build up energy and then release it somehow. Yeah. So you gathered?

Yeah, pretty much. I mean, it can flow out of anywhere in the body. So you can direct it anywhere. It's always flowing too.

There's no like sharp angles. There's never a straight line with it. It's always either like twirling or spinning or moving. So it's not like...

That's why in some of the martial arts we're going to be talking about a little bit. It's a lot of flowing movements. Right. A lot about harmony and balance.

Yeah. I think that's where Bodhi Dharma comes in because he taught like Tai Chi kind of like basically like movement. He thought that there was too much sedentary meditation basically. Oh, okay.

I see that. Yeah. So like energy is moving at all times. Yeah.

And so when you're meditating sitting still meditating, it's almost not good to some extent. Yeah. Although they do seem to value like positions as well. Like even like how you're sitting, how you sleep, all of these things seem to matter in some way.

Yeah. Like just the natural flow of energy. Yeah. I mean, it's all about balance in the body.
